Finito: GoodFellas Eliminated In First Round

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas come out flat and are sent home early

With the Fellas not being your typical 5 seed they knew they had a great chance to upset the 4 seed and advance to the semi-finals. However, you can’t advance on paper and have to produce and on this rain threanting night, the Fellas lackluster perfromance sent them home early.

Bill Pulver hit a 2 run home run in the first inning to give the Fellas the early lead. However, the defensive struggles began early and errors feuled a 4 run 1st for Empire Seal Coating. In the third, Empire Seal Coating then added another 7 runs fueled by hard hit balls and some defensive mishaps. The score was 13-3 going in to the 5th and the Fellas were able to scartch one run across to make 13-4. In the 6th, The Goodfellas looked to rally and had the bases loaded with no one out. But again, The Fellas couldnt produce the big hit and didnt’ score a run. The Fellas only has 5 hits in this game, and were 5/22 as a team.

“We did not play to the level we are capable of, everyone knows that” said Coach Phil. “With the way we played, we didnt deserve to win.”

Thank you to all our fans for their support this year, we will come out ready to go in 2019. The mantra remains the same – GRIP. RIP. SHIP.

Hallelujah: Red Hot Clemens Propels Fellas to Victory in Regular Season Finale

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Clemens electric, Fellas rebound for big win headed into playoffs

On their 5 year anniversary of winning their first title in franchise the history, the Fellas looked to end the regular season on a high note and roll into the playoffs with momentum. With a rally and solid pitching the Fellas prevailed to win the regular season finale by a final score of 11-10.

The Fellas took an early 3 run lead started by POG Brendan Clemens who led off with a double and would score on Mark LeMorta’s RBI Double. Brendan Rowland then hit a 2 run home run that still hasn’t landed. In the 2nd and third, Church League Castoffs scored combined 8 runs putting the Fellas in a 7 run hole. The Fellas responded with 5 runs fueled by back to back to back singles from LeMorta, Rowland and Conlin followed by a 2 run double from Bill Pulver. Phil Sidoti then hit a SAC Fly and Greg Briggs would add an RBI Single. In the 4th, The Fellas added one more to get within one run via a solo home run from Brendan Rowland.

In the sixth inning, The Fellas would tie it on a RBI single from Nick Marciano and the hot hitting Brendan Clemens would hit a clutch RBI single to put the Fellas up 11-10. The defense and Marcaino’s pitching in the 7th sealed the deal as the Fellas win the regular season finale and finish the season 9-7.

“I’ve had a tough season so I was really looking to jumpstart myself before the playoffs start, I’ve had an awesome past three days, been on cloud 9 ever since.” said Brendan Clemens. The newlywed had one of his best games as a Goodfellas and his hot bat couldn’t have come at a better time. “I am pumped for the postseason, I am ready to rock”.  Congratulations to Brendan and his bride Amanda on their wedding; Brendan is now batting .1000 since he was married!

Brendan Rowland concluded his unbelievable season by capturing the triple crown; only the second Goodfella in franchise history to reach this milestone. “It’s great, but let’s win the ship” said Rowland. Rowland joins Mark LeMorta in the history books and should be taking plenty of hardware home at the team party this. “The only hardware that matters is the championship trophy; lets get it”

The Fellas appear to have captured the 6th seed for the playoffs and will begin their journey for a title on Monday night.

Jekyl & Hyde: Fellas Split Double Header to Remain at .500

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Solid game 1 and absymal game 2 keep the fellas at .500

Game 1: W – 7-3
Game 2: L – 20-8

With all of the rain outs the Fellas have not played a game in almost a month and with work schedules and vacations the Fellas have not had their full team all year. But tonight, the Fellas had everyone and were ready to make a strong push towards the postseason. In the first game, The Fellas played their best defensive game of the year and Nick Marciano was very sharp on the mound. In this contest, Brendan Rowland hit a 2 run home run with the rest of the offense coming from timely singles and doubles from multiple contributors. However, the story in game was all defense and pitching as the Fellas looked as crisp as they have looked all year.

However, in game 2 The Fellas sharp defense disappeared with several errors made leading to at least 10 unearned runs. A fatigued Nick Marciano continued to pitch great but the Fellas were giving Grand Premier too many outs to play with. Offensively, The Fellas got off to a good start by scoring 5 runs but could not capitalize on multiple opportunities moving forward, including having the bases loaded 1 with one out. The poor defensive display led to the Fellas demise in this one, as they were defeated 20-8.

“There is just something about 9pm games that don’t work for us” said Coach Phil. “Hopefully in the playoffs we don’t play at 9pm.” Bill Pulver concurred: “I know you can eat great even late (Wendy’s) but sometimes 11 pm after a game is just too late. I mean I will still go but I would prefer a baconitator earlier”

Recession: Fellas Drop Close Game, Back to .500

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Back  to .500, Fellas cant keep up mometum

After Tuesday’s huge upset against the defending champs the Fellas had some nice momentum to finish off the rest of the season. However, with a depleted lineup and facing a hard hitting 435 Financial team, the Fellas just couldn’t over the odds and lost this game 12-8.

435 Financial got off to an early 8-0 lead and the Fellas chipped away in the 3rd by scoring 4 runs. Clemens started it with a single followed by a double from Brendan Rowland. Tom Colin would draw a walk and Billy Pulver hit a 3 run triple. Hunter Moffatt then hit a an RBI single for the 4th run. The bats went quiet until the 7th, where 435 Financial scored 4 more runs to take a 12-4 lead. The Fellas fought back with Teta starting the bottom of the 7th with a single from and a double from Brendan Rowland. Tom Conlin then hit a 2 run single and Hunter Moffatt hit an RBI single. Chris Smith would add an RBI single and that would conclude the scoring; resulting in the Fellas losing this one 12-8.

“Tough loss and at full strength this a team we can beat, especially come the post season” said Brendan Clemens. “We will be ready to take them on next time.”

The Fellas look to re group as only 4 games remain to make a playoff push.

Stepping Up: Fellas Respond In Huge Way, Defeat Defending Champions

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Stunner. Fellas upset defending champions in a solid effort

After a disappointing last few games the Fellas knew they had to respond and put up a solid effort against  the defending champions. With the squad missing LeMorta, Hoffman, Moffatt, Teta for half the game and Sidoti the BOD turned to their bench calling up John Pulver, Dan Capoccitti, Chris Smith and Michael Nicastro from AAA. The kids stepped up in a huge way and each contributed to the victory. Not only did the kids step up, but the veteran players rose to the occasion and left the defending champions stunned with a final score of 15-10.

The Fellas took an early lead by scoring 2 runs in the 1st fueled by a 2 run home run from Brendan Rowland. After two innings the Fellas trailed 5-2 but stepped on the gas in the third by scoring 6 runs. Tom Conlin started it off with a monster solo home run followed by another home run from Brendan Rowland. Bill Pulver then hit a single followed by a double from the Grill Master Matt Grill. Mike Nicastro (one dumb sum bitch) hit an RBI single and Nick Marciano added an RBI single. Chris Smith then hit a 2 run triple to put the exclamation point on the inning.  In the 5th, Teta arrived and hit a solo home run, followed by a double from Brendan Clemens; in which he came around to the score on the subsequent fielders choice. In the 6th, Billy Pulver (clearly motivated by Taco Tuesday) hit a solo shot that still hasn’t landed.

In the 7th, the Fellas added some insurance by scoring 4 runs. Teta and Clemens started it off with singles and Tommy Conlin hit yet another home run, this time a 3 run jack. Rowland then hit his  THIRD home run going back to back and belly to belly with Conlin for the second time in one game! From there, Marciano shut the door, the defense stepped up and the Fellas upset the defending champs in a complete stunner.

Defensively the fellas made great plays all around with Tom Conlin flashing the leather at 3rd base and Mike Nicastro looking like a pre – PED Robbie Cano over at 2nd base. Dan Capoccitti’s charisma and charm also played a role tonight as he may have relaxed some of the new guys.

It’s rumored that Rowland may have a broken rib after bumping bellies with Tom Conlin but we cannot confirm this rumor. However, we can confirm that Billy Pulver did indeed go to Taco Bell to celebrate. Jaimie has a plumber on stand by.

Mark LeMorta will return next week as he is at yet another National Penis Convention. Hunter Moffat and Coach Phil were placed on the 10 – DAY DL effective July 30 as they tend to injuries. Coach Phil is expected back next week and Hunter awaits test results.

The Fellas may also be at risk of losing both Pulver Brothers for the remainder of the season. Rumor is that both Pulver’s are looking to compete in replacing Papa John.

Fright Night Struggles: Fella Lose Yet Another Heartbreaker

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Friday night struggles continue as Fellas drop back to .500

With rainouts and a wacky schedule as it is the Goodfellas have not played since July 3rd; a game that everyone would like to forget. The Fellas took the field tonight with a record of 5-4 facing an opponent with the same record; both teams looking to secure fourth place. The Fellas had plenty of chances to pull ahead and dominate this game but in typical 9PM Friday fashion a lackluster performance led to the Fellas dropping this contest by a finale score of 12-10.

The Fellas didn’t ‘score until the third which was led by a Nick Marciano single and a hustle RBI triple from Mark LeMorta. Brendan Rowland then drove in Lemorta with a single to tie the game at 2. In the 4th, Dan Capoccitti hit a 2 run single and in the 4th the Fellas would add 4 more runs. Mark LeMorta got it started with a much earned double (DSB almost got thrown out) followed by a walk from Rowland and single from Bill Pulver. Tom Conlin would then go on to hit a SAC FLY and Brian Hoffman ripped a 2 run double. Phil Sidoti then added an RBI single.

Going into the 7th the Fellas trailed 12-8 and made it interesting. Tom Conlin started with an opposite field single followed by back to back walks from Matt Grill and Phil Sidoti. Nick Marciano then hit a 2 run single and the Fellas were set up with runners on first and second with LeMorta and Rowland looming on deck. However, the fellas couldn’t keep the momentum going and the game ended yet again with the Fellas very much capable of winning but just couldn’t seal the deal.

Nick Marciano pitched a decent game but was irritated with home plate umpire Mike Pakatar’s banter and constant distraction. “Pak wouldn’t stop talking and really shouldn’t just let me pitch and keep his mouth shut” said Nick Marcaino. “Next time he is in Pellegrino’s I am putting Ex-Lax on his pastrami”

Despite the loss, we may have found our moment of the year candidate and it of course belongs to Mark LeMorta. On a play at the plate (from the fence), Mark air mailed a throw that actually went OVER the fence. “I put a little too much juice into that one” said LeMorta. No one in the crowd was injured in the crazy throw, however, it was close to hitting Jt Marie who was their supporting her baby’s daddy.

The Goodfellas look to get back on track Monday night.

Walked off: Fellas Lose In Bottom of the 7th, Winning Streak Snapped

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas can't finish off Grand Premier, lose via the walk off

Riding a three game winning streak the Fellas came into this rivalry game hot and ready to do work. However, in this back and forth matchup the Fellas couldn’t finish Grand Premier off, as Grand Premier would walk it off leaving the Fellas stunned.

The Fellas took an early 3-0 lead fueled by back to back to back singles form Moffatt, Pulver and Conlin (RBI). Marciano would drive in a run with a hard ground ball and Capoccitti hit a laser triple to left to score the third run.  Grand  Premier would respond by scoring 4 runs.  In the 4th, Tom Conlin hit a towering home run and the Fellas wouldn’t score again until the 7th.  Headed into the 6th, the Fellas trailed  8-4 and with their backs against the wall needed to rally to stay alive. And that’s exactly what they did. Tom Conlin and Phil Sidoti started the inning with singles and Clemens would draw a walk to load the bases. Dustin Teta then hit an RBI single followed by an RBI single from Mark LeMorta. With bases loaded, 2 outs and trailing by 2 Brendan Rowland came up clutch hitting a grand slam to put the Fellas up 10-8. In the bottom of the 6th, Grand Premier scored one to make it a 10-9 game and the Fellas were unable to add insurance runs in the 7th.  In the bottom of the 7th, Grand Premier would tie it and then go on to win it in very tough loss for the Fellas.

“This is the second time this season we lost in the fashion and it’s tough, but we hung in there and it could have gone either way. Did we miss opportunities? Sure. But I am happy with how we battled” said Coach Phil.

“When Rowland hit that home run I thought for sure we were going to win, I was so confident that I was already planning on going to Guptills for ice cream when it was over. Then when we lost, I was upset so I went to Wendy’s “said Bill Pulver.

Sub Dan Capoccitti had a great game at the plate hitting the ball hard each time. “Always a good time seeing the guys, fun to be out there although 9PM games suck.”

With this tough loss the fellas are now 4-3 and have to put this one behind them as they have another game on Thursday.

In other news: Dustin Teta didn’t forget the beer tonight, which is worthy of mentioning.

Dustin Checks In: Teta & Fellas Mash, Win 3rd Straight Game

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas mash their way to 3rd straight win backed by solid pitching

After last week’s close game the Fellas didn’t want to take any chances and came out of the gate scoring 9 runs. Elite would chip away and the final score looked a lot closer than it really was but the Fellas put on an absolute offensive clinic to win this game 17-13. The team set a franchise record with 4 triples (Clemens, Rowland, Grill, Teta) in one game and there were no shortage of home runs with the team hitting 3; fueled by a monster performance by player of the game Dustin Teta.

Pulver, Conlin and Teta all hit home runs and all were well struck. In addition, every Fella had a hit tonight with several having more then 2. Teta, Rowland and Moffatt combined for 11 of the 17 RBIs and defensively the Fellas played well. Nick Marciano pitched another great game, going 7 innings and picking up the win. With this win, Coach Phil picked up his 100th win as manager of the franchise and as happy to see the Goodfellas put together a winning streak. “100 wins is great but more importantly we are now in second place and have won three in a row.” “This is the part of the season where we put our foot on the gas and don’t look back.” In observance of 100 wins, Bill Pulver ate 100 Skittles on his way home from the field, which is 50 higher than he normally does.

Speaking of looking back, Mark LeMorta wishes he could look back to Father’s Day and perhaps go a little less aggressive in the bedroom. Mark was placed on the 5 day DL due to a penis strain. It appears Christina took our advice and gave Mark a Father’s Day to remember. A normal guy would have been placed on the 15 day DL but with Mark’s expertise in penis healing and overall penis management is resulting in his recovery time being projected to be much faster.

Player of the Game Dustin Teta, his first player of the game award since re joining the franchise was all smiles after the game and happy to be home. “We are building a legacy here, and we are the team to beat” said Teta. “I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else and it’s good to be home.”

The Fellas look to win their 4th straight next week and will have to do it with Matt Grill since he is headed on his east coast Chick-Fil A Tour. Bill Pulver also expressed interested in joining the Grill family.

Tommy Like Swingy!: Conlin Delivers In Clutch For Come From Behind Win

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Marciano continues dominance, Conlin clutch in Goodfellas  dramatic victory

After last week’s offensive clinic, The Fellas entered this game ready to swing the sticks and get win number 3. However, the offense struggled and it wasn’t until a hero emerged late to bail the fellas out. Nick Mariano pitched yet another gem only allowing 5 runs and 3 strikes outs. Defensively the Fellas played well but the offense just couldn’t seem to find a rhythm.

The Fellas wouldn’t score until the 3rd inning where Mark LeMorta got things started with a lead off double. Brendan Rowland then did Brendan Rowland type things with a 2 run home run followed by back to back to back singles from Bill Pulver, Brian Hoffman, and Tom Conlin. Pulver would then score on a SAC Fly from Matt Grill for 3 runs in the inning.

From that point the Fellas bats went silent and wouldn’t score again until the 7th. In fact, during those three innings the Fellas only had 3 hits. The game was tied 3-3 in the 6th and Across the Street Pub broke the tie with a 2 run home run. If the Fellas were going to survive this game someone was going to have to step up in the 7th. With one out Bill Pulver drew a walk and Brian Hoffman followed suit. With 2 runners on base red –hot Tom Conlin came up to the plate and hit one the most dramatic home runs in Goodfellas history. With Conlin coming through in the clutch, the Fellas took a 6-5 led and Marciano came out in the bottom of the 7th and pitched his way to a complete game victory; backed by sharp Goodfellas defense.

“I was just happy I was able to help the team. We were struggling at the plate and for me to hit the home run was huge. Was also great that my wife and daughter were here to see it. Nice way to start Father’s Day Weekend” said Tom Conlin.

When Conlin hit the home run, media reports indicate that Bill Pulver was so excited that he actually started eating Skittles as he rounded third. “Conlin’s home run looked like a rainbow and I wanted to taste the rainbow” said Bill Pulver. “6pm games are tough folks, plus I love Skittles”. In addition, when Conlin met Pulver at homer plate, it’s highly likely Conlin also snuck in a Skittle.

Mark LeMorta who still sits at 7 home runs away from 100 was happy the Fellas were on the winning side this time in a close game. “Couple weeks ago we lost a close game, would have hurt to lose another one like that.” Said LeMorta. TC did work, Marciano did work; just a big win.

With this win, Coach Phil picks up career win #99 as manager of the franchise and is one win away from the 100 milestone. “Definitely a cool thing, but important thing is we continue to win ball games and set ourselves up for a long post season run.” Said Coach Phil. “100 wins is great but we all know it’s all about the SHIP” Plus, according to BOD member Mark LeMorta, the only win that mattered was win #14.

Crucified: Fellas Dominate, Win Via Mercy Rule

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Dominate pitching, red hot offense lead to Fellas capturing second win

After last week’s tough loss to the defending champions and with Moffatt, Hoffman and Teta out for this contest, the Fellas had their backs against the wall trying to avoid a 1-3 start. Stellar pitching by Nick Marciano, the igniting of the Fellas offense and solid contributions from subs elevated the Goodfellas over Church League Castoffs in an impressive 18-6 victory.

The game started off rocky by the Fellas (one DSB) allowing 4 unearned runs from a missed pop up and misplayed ball at 1B. “Just a bad inning, really not my fault though. Brian Hoffman took the Beer Cady 3:16 and Shaun Soucy forgot to text Grill he was on beer so I was dehydrated.” Said Coach Phil.  After the blunder, everything settled down and Marciano dominated as the Goodfellas offense stepped up to take care of business.

The Fellas scored 9 runs in the first with Brendan Clemens and Mark LeMorta getting things started with back to back singles. Brendan Rowland came up next and hit a 3 run home run (look mamma, there goes dat man….). Bill Pulver and Tom Conlin hit back to back singles and Matt Grill would add a SAC FLY to score Pulver. Marciano, and rookie Jimmy Ferguson hit back to back singles and Dan Capoccitti hit a 2 run double. Clemens then came up again and hit an RBI double followed by a 2 run double from LeMorta.

The Fellas would add 3 more runs in the 3rd, 1 in the 4th and the dagger in the 5th inning with 5 runs. Key contributions came from singles from Pulver, Grill, Sidoti, and Ferguson in the 3rd and in the 5th Grill had a big 2 run double and Rowland and Pulver had laser RBI singles. Great defensive players were made all around and Bill Pulver held his own at SS.

“The pre game Skittle incentive definitely helped, but just imagine if I was offered Beef Jerky or a Turkey Sandwhich instead.” Said Pulver. Great win for us and I’m happy I was able to help the team.”

Mark LeMorta was also fined a 6 pack of beer during this game for a mishap in LCF on a play. “It appeared Mark wasn’t being aggressive, allowing a runner to move to second. He said he couldn’t see the ball, he has the right to appeal but if it goes to arbitration, Hoffman will most likely go against LeMorta” said Coach Phil.

“I didn’t see the ball, couldn’t find the ball. With Pulver at short, the lighting was definitely affected and it took me some time to get use to the shadows. I will be appealing.”  said LeMorta

Fellas are now .500 and Coach Phil picks up career managerial win 98, LeMorta remains 7 home runs away from 100.

Extra Tough: Fellas Battle But Lose in Extra Innings To Defending Champs

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Epic defensive and pitching effort not enough to shut down defending champs

After last year’s World Series heartbreaker, the Fellas were itching for redemption vs. The Hitmen in 2018. In what will go down as one of the best games in recent memory, the Fellas showed why they can hang with anybody. Unfortunately on this night, somebody had to lose and the Fellas couldn’t finish off the Hitmen, resulting in a tough 5-4 loss in 9 innings. Both teams battled, and this game had a playoff feel to it. Tremendous defensive plays all around and Goodfellas ace Nick Marciano was pitching a 2 hitter through 4 innings of play. Web gems were made almost by everyone with notable standouts being Chris Stack, Mark LeMorta, Matt Grill and Dustin Teta. Guys were diving all over the field, throwing guys out, making speculator plays all night. Some say it was the best defensive game in Goodfellas history.

At the plate however, Hitmen’s pitcher kept the Fellas off balance all night with his slow moving knuckleball. “I had two hits but every time I saw the knuckle I just envisioned a floating Jelly Donut coming my way. Hard to hit and it made me hungry “ said Bill Pulver.

The game was scoreless through 3 innings and it wasn’t until the 4th that the Fellas broke through. Brian Hoffman got it started with a single followed by back to back to back Singles from Moffatt, Pulver and Conlin to score 2 runs. Chris Stack then hit a SAC fly for the third run. Hitmen would score 1 run in 5th and would go on to tie the game in the bottom of the 6th making it a 3-3 ball game. In the 7th, Hitmen had the bases loaded with 1 out and the Fellas got out of it to send this game to extra innings. Neither team scored in the 8th, resulting in the 9th inning rule of starting a runner at 2B with 1 out.

Bill Pulver started the 9th off with a double and Tom Conlin hit a single to score the run to put the Fellas up 4-3. In the bottom of the 9th Hitmen scored a run to tie it and with two outs and a runner on second, the Hitmen hit a shot to left field just over Stack’s head to walk it off with the victory.

“We battled and played one of the best games I’ve been a part of” said Coach Phil. “Both teams played their asses off and we respect their effort; on to the next one”

Mark LeMorta, still not 100% from his colonoscopy had a questionable sliding attempt that was a cross between Jackie Chan doing karate and Bill Pulver fighting off a patron at Arby’s over fries “I wasn’t sure if I should slide or not then last minute I said screw it not sliding so it looked a little awkward. Not only that but I had chicken chilli before the game and kinda sharted when I rounded 1st.”

Out of the three games this year The Fellas have lost 2 heartbreakers; 2 games they could have and should have fun. “We should be 3-0 but 1-2 it is” said BOD Brendan Clemens. “We would rather lose the tough ones now and have better luck in the fall when we go for the ‘ship”

Rowlin To Victory: Fellas Dominate To Capture First Win of 2018

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas offense stays hot, defense impored to capture first win of 2018

After last week’s “rainout” and with 2 weeks passing since their opener the Fellas were anxious to get back on the field and do work. The offense was clicking tonight (including patience at the plate) and the defense was much improved to secure the mercy rule 20-8 win.  Brendan Rowland made his 2018 debut and performed as advertised by hitting 2 home runs and Mark LeMorta hit career home run #93, inching him closer to the 100 HR milestone. With the victory, Coach Phil picks up managerial win #97, now just 3 shy of the 100 milestone. Keith Barrell also made his return; coming out of retirement and playing his first game in 4 years. (no one was hit in the face or injured by Keith tonight)

Niko Strong started the game off by getting 3 quick runs, which came from a HR from Marshawn Lynch. The Fellas responded with 9 runs fueled mostly by patience by taking pitches from a struggling pitcher. Clemens, Hoffman, LeMorta and Rowland all walked to start the game and the first hit came via Bill Pulver with a 2 run single. Conlin was then hit by a pitch and Matt Grill kept swinging his hot bat with an RBI single. Nick Marciano and Keith Barrell then hit back to back RBI singles. Brian Hoffman then hit a sac fly and LeMorta added an RBI single to conclude the 9 run inning.

Niko Strong would add a few runs here and there but it just wasn’t enough to keep pace with the hot bats of the Goodfellas. In the third, Brian Hoffman started it off with a double followed by a double from Mark LeMorta. Brendan Rowland then hit his first HR as a Goodfella, a 3 run shot that still hasn’t landed. Pulver and Grill would then add singles and Sidoti would hit an RBI single to another 5 runs.  In the next inning, Clemens started the inning off with a double and would score on LeMorta’s towering home run to right center; his first of the season. Brendan Rowland would then hit his second home run of the game – going back to back and belly to belly with LeMorta (note: when they bumped stomachs LeMorta’s colon responded by causing him a minor shart accident). After scoring 20 runs and being up by the 12 the game was called due to the mercy rule, sending the Fellas to their first victory of 2018.

“This was a lot of fun and this is a great group of guys” said Rowland. Rowland although had a good game, still made a rookie mistake pre game. Instead of taking a beer from the “Beer Caddy 3:16” he bought his own beer from the concession stand. “I didn’t even know about the “Beer Caddy 3:16” said Rowland. When Stone Cold Steve Austin found out, he was not happy.

“Open your damn eyes son! Been talking about Beer Caddy 3:16 for months ya piece of trash. Only saving grace is that concession stand sells approved beer, you wasted your money you dumb sum bitch!”

The media also caught up with Mark LeMorta after the game regarding home run #93. “Just another home run, the important thing is we won the game.” “Can’t wait to get home and celebrate with Christina when I get home. I bet she has candles lit”

A nice win for the Fellas and Moffatt and Teta were missing in this contest, meaning the “the dream team” debut will have to wait another week.

No Shortage of Effort: Fellas Comeback But Drop Home Opener

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas fight to the end in promising opener but can't complete comeback to drop first game

After an offseason full of new acquisitions, preparation and excitement the Goodfellas were ready to begin the 2018 campaign against a familiar foe in Frozen Ropes. With the Fellas missing Rowland, Moffatt & LeMorta for the opener they turned to their subs to fill the void. Dan Capoccitti made his return and John Pulver came out of retirement to help the Fellas, which was much appreciated. Dustin Teta also made his long awaited return to the franchise and we are excited to have him back.

The Fellas knew they would have their hands full with Frozen Ropes and almost pulled off the upset. In the first, Ropes scored 6 runs primarly by some defensive blunders from one DSB and some long home runs. In the second, Ropes would add 2 more to go up 8-0 but the Fellas answered back with 2 of their own. Bill Pulver led the inning off with a holy shit triple and would come around to score on some Jabroni named Brian Hoffman who hit a 2 run home run deep to left. In the 3rd Ropes was held at scoreless and the Fella struck to make this a ballgame by scoring 7 runs to take a 9-8 lead. Nick Marciano and Dan Capoccitti started the inning off with back to back walks and Phil Sidoti would add a base hit. Dustin Teta and Bill Pulver then hit back to back RBI singles followed by a 2 run single from Brian Hoffman. Tom Conlin then hit an RBI single followed by a John Pulver walk. Pulver would come around to score on Matt Grill’s RBI Single.

It remained a tight game with great defensive plays made by the Fellas, notably Matt Grill’s diving catch and Dustin Teta’s diving catch. Nick Marciano also made tremendous plays on the mounds, balls that nearly killed him. Going into the 7th it was 10-9 game in favor of Frozen Ropes and ropes would add 6 more runs to take a 16-9 lead. However, the resilient Goodfellas refused to go down without a fight and Bill Pulver started the bottom of the 7th off with a double. Brian Hoffman then hit a single , followed by singles from Matt Grill, Nick Marciano, and Dan Capoccitti. The hits kept on coming on the Fellas scored 4 runs to come within 3. However, it wasn’t enough as the Fellas strained two base runners with the game ending 16-13 in a hard fought opener.

“We really battled tonight and played well against one of the favorites to go to the ‘ship. We weren’t even at full strength and almost beat them, that’s the silver lining” said Coach Phil.  “Proud of how our team fought, this is going to be a fun year”

After the game, the media tried to reach Mark LeMorta to determine where he was for the opener but he could not be reached. Reports are that he is suffering some leakage from his colonoscopy from 2 weeks ago but that cannot be confirmed. We hope to have Mark back for game 2 Monday night.

As for Rowland and Moffatt, there are stunners in the forecast……

The media also had a chance to catch up with Dustin Teta and Dan Capoccitti after the game:

“It feels great to be back, it’s great to be home” said Teta. “I am really looking forward to the rest of the season.”

Capoccitti added: “I’m back. We lost. Who cares”

Double Trouble: Fellas Drop 2 Close Games, Lose World Series

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Epic season ends in disappointment after Fellas drop two close games

The stage was set. The entire team was available, the weather was perfect and Marciano’s hamstring was healed enough to allow him to continue to pitch. All the Fellas had to do was go out and execute, however, the opposing pitcher kept the Fellas off balance and missed opportunities led to two very tough losses.

The Fellas dropped the first game 8-6 and had multiple opportunities to take the lead. The Fellas hit the ball hard but right at defenders and you could tell it was going to be “one of those nights”.  The game featured home runs from Hunter Moffatt, Bill Pulver, Chris Stack but it just wasn’t enough. Defensively and out the mount the Fellas played good but they just couldn’t get over the hump; heading into game 2 on the ropes.

In the second game, The Fellas took an early 5-1 lead but the Hitmen stormed back and lead by 6 going into the bottom of the 7th leaving the Fellas on the hook to score 6 runs to extend their season. The bats came alive and the Fellas responded fueled by a dramatic grand slam from Brian Hoffman to tie the game. Bill Pulver flirted with the walk off but his ball was caught at the fence. The Hitmen then responded with 5 in the top of 8th and the Fellas were only able to score one, resulting in a World Series sweep and the end to a fun season.

“It’s not what you want” said Coach Phil. “We had our chances and I still feel we are the better team, but the Hitmen earned it and I tip my cap to them. We will be back next year and appreciate our fans coming out to support us”.

“We haven’t lost back to back games all year so it definitely was a surprise” said Mark LeMorta. “We had our chances but just couldn’t get the job done.”

After the game Michael Corcione, provided some perspective. “I am sad, but it was fun”.

The Goodfellas would like to thank all of their fans and look forward to regrouping for 2018.

World Series Bound: Fellas Headed to Fall Classic After NLCS Sweep

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas are headed to the World Series after another nail bitter

The NLCS opener ended with Fellas hanging on by 1 run to seal the deal and this one ended very much in the same fashion. The Fellas trailed by 4 runs in the 6th and came back to get within 1 heading into the bottom of the 6th. Tremendous defense by Nick Marcaino kept Cut Above Landscaping only up by 1 run and the Fellas were going to have to score to extend this game and avoid a sudden death game 3. The Fellas were able to tie it and then had a one run lead heading into the bottom of the 7th only up 1. Great defense and a resilient Marciano shut down a threatening Cut Above and the Fellas are headed to the fall classic.

The Fellas got contributions from everyone and this was a solid team win. Defensive standouts included Nick Marciano, Mark LeMorta and Chris Stack but the entire team played solid defense. Offensively the Fellas were hot early, scoring 4 runs to start the game fueled by a 2 run triple from Hunter Moffatt and 2 run home run from Tom Conlin. The Fellas would score 3 more in the 3rd with Chris Stack hitting an RBI single and Michael Nicastro hitting a 2 run single. Hunter Moffatt hit a 2 run double in the 6th and Bill Pulver added a Sac Fly in the 6th. In the 7th Chris Stack and Michael Nicastro hit back to back singles and Scott Matheson hit an SAC Fly. Brian Hoffman almost hit a game breaking grand slam but the center fielder robbed his home run, turning it into a Sac Fly.

“Great team win, everyone did their thing” said Mark LeMorta. “We are headed to the ‘ship and it’s time to DO WORK!”

When Mark LeMorta was asked about getting hit in the back during the game on a play at the plate he happy to take one for the team, literally. “Didn’t feel great but I was safe and I scored and that’s what matters.”

The World Series begins Wednesday 10/4 at 6PM and Game 2 is at 7:30 PM. In the event there is a Game 3, it will be played Friday 10/6 at 6PM.

Survivor Series: Fellas hang on, one win away from World Series

PASTA BOWL BREKDOWN: Fellas survive, one win away from World Series

In a back and forth matchup The Fellas hung on to win a thriller 14-13 to come within one victory of advancing to the World Series. Nick Marciano led the Fellas with his gutsy pitching performance after hurting his hamstring and hung in there earning him POG honors. Defensively the Fellas were solid and notable defensive standouts included Mark LeMorta, Hunter Moffatt and Scott Matheson.

Besides the gutsy performance from Nick, the main story was the Goodfellas offense who refused to go away.  Cut Above The Rest struck first with 3 runs and the Fellas would respond with 4 runs. It was a 7-7 game in the third and the Fellas started to pull away by outscoring Cut Above 9-1 in the next 3 innings.

LeMorta drove in the first RBI of the game with a oppo-taco RBI single with Moffatt adding his own RBI single and the “The Burger King” Bill Pulver driving in a run with an RBI. Moffatt added a solo HR and Brian Hoffman hit a 2 run shot that still hasn’t landed later in the game. Tom Conlin had a big game with 4 RBI and a double and Scott Matheson had a big 2 run double in the 3rd. Pulver had three doubles to keep things going and Mike Corcione had a nice game going 2/3 with an RBI. The Fellas also showed great patience at the plate by drawing 7 walks.

Things got interesting the 7th, with the Fellas leading 14-8. Cut Above was able to get the tying run on the third base and the Fellas hung on to seal the victory 14-13; needing only one more win to punch their ticket to the fall classic.

“This was a great game, with everyone contributing in their own way.” Added Coach Phil. “Everybody stepped up tonight and I like our chances on Thursday”.

The Fellas would like to thank Christina LeMorta for understanding the magnitude of this game and supporting Mark in playing on their anniversary.  As a thank you, Brian Hoffman is going to present Christina with a gift card to JT’s Sexual Counseling, who recently signed on as a team sponsor.

How Sweep It Is: Fellas Advance To NLCS in Dominate Fashion

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas headed to NLCS, complete sweep

In the first game of the NLDS the Fellas offense was electric due to hot hitting and the short porch provided by Mullens. This time at the Field of Dreams, it didn’t matter what the distance of the fences were as the Fellas offense dominated again by winning this one in commanding fashion 18-3.

Nick Marciano pitched a great game and escaped death (literally) on the last play of the game to send the Fellas to the NLCS. Great defense was played all around with notable plays made by Bill Pulver, Hunter Moffat & Tom Conlin.

Mark LeMorta returned to the lineup after coming home from the National Penis Convention and didn’t miss a beat with a towering 3 run home run. Brian Hoffman hit a monster solo home run but the shocker came in the 3rd with Matt Grill hitting a 2 run home run, his first home run as a Goodfella and first home run in his softball career. Matt showed signs of power in his last game, just missing a HR at Mullens but this one tonight was a no doubter.

Mike Corcione made his post season debut and nearly hit an inside the park grand slam but was gunned down at the plate by a perfect throw. Mike, however, showed tremendous athleticism with his slide into home. Another notable slide was by Tom Conlin who’s aggressive base running earned him a triple and potentially a set of broken ribs.

With Conlin, Marciano and Grill having breakout performances all three were named players of the game, the first time in history this has happened. “I was just happy to contribute any way I could” said Matt Grill. “ I would like to thank all of our sponsors, especially Suburban Propane.” During Matt’s appreciation for the sponsors, Coach Phil broke the news that Mrs. Hoffman’s business JT Marie’s Sexual Counseling has signed on as official sponsor. “We are happy to welcome JT aboard and see many promotions that will align with Mark’s line of work” said Coach Phil. “Competition is stiff and it’s a hard business, but we hope JT’s business can grow and grow, get bigger and bigger and reach it’s climax with our sponsorship deal”.

The Fellas open the NLCS next week and need two wins to advance to the World Series.

HunteR Derby – Fellas One Win Away From NLCS

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Offensive explosion and timely defense has Fellas one win away from NLCS

With last week’s NLDS opener getting rained out the Fellas took the field tonight to kick off their 2017 playoff campaign. With LeMorta missing due to his second National Penis Convention, the outfield was going to have to step up along with the offense to come out on top; and that’s exactly what happened.

The Bravest took an early 4-0 lead and the Fellas answered back with 8 runs. Bravest would score another 3 and the Fellas would answer with 5. Every inning they kept going back and forth but as Marciano settled down backed by some great defensive plays the Bravest started to fade and the Fellas kept the pressure on.  The Fellas offense was electric tonight, with contributions made from all around. There were 8 home runs hit by the Fellas in this game, with half of them coming from player of the game Hunter Moffatt, 3 from Pulver and one from the newlywed Brian Hoffman.

“This was a solid team win, just an overall excellent win on so many different levels” said Coach Phil “It was a great way to start the playoffs”

Billy Pulver was extremely happy with his 3 HR night and immediately cited his contract clause stating that each post season home run would yield him a whopper. Hopefully, the BOD has the funds to make this happen.

The Fellas look to advance to the NLCS with a win on Monday night which will feature the return of the prodigal son, Mark LeMorta.

No Harm, No Foul: Fellas Drop Meaningless Regular Season Finale

With half the team missing and a windy 9PM game at Coyne Field, the Fellas knew this would be an interesting game. The Fellas were missing Nicastro, Clemens, Sidoti, Marciano and Grill resulting in prospects from the AAA Paizan Bombers getting called up to "The Show". They did their best to fill in and we appreciate their contribution to the season.

The score went back and forth and this game was not a defensive highlight reel. The Fellas trailed 20-19 in the top of the 7th with bases loaded with a chance to win it and they came up short, resulting in regular season finiah of 10-4 with second seed in the playoffs.

The Fellas look to take the field on September 6th fully loaded for the NLDS.

Degeneration X – Conlin’s Late HR, Clemens Single Delivers in Walk-off Fashion

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Conlin and Clemens deliver in walk off fashion to secure win number 10

After last weeks rain shortened game and nearly a 3 week hiatus from a full game, the Fellas were anxious to get back on the field and fine tune their game prior to the postseason. The Fellas faced the 1-12 Degenerates and on paper this one looked like it would be done early. However, The Fellas offense struggled in the middle innings, leaving bases loaded multiple times and lacking the big hit. However, the Fellas came alive in the 7th to seal the victory.

In the first Degenerates put up 2 runs against Nick Marcaino and the Fellas responded with 4 runs with back to back singles from Brendan Clemens and Phil Sidoti and an RBI Double from Mark LeMorta. Hunter Moffatt then hit an RBI single and Tom Conlin followed suit with one of his own. The Fellas scored another run in the 3rd, fueled by a triple from Mark LeMorta who come around to score on an RBI single from Hunter Moffatt. Degenerates kept putting the pressure on scoring 3 in the 3rd, and 4 more over the next two innings. The Fellas were now trailing 10-5 and it looked like they were on route to an embarrassing loss.

However, the Fellas started to chip away by scoring 2 runs in the 6th driven by clutch hits from Tom Conlin, Mike Corcione and Nick Marciano. In the 7th, Hunter Moffatt started the come back with a solo HR followed by a double from Brian Hoffman. Tom Conlin then delivered the big blow with the 2 run home run to tie it up. Matt Grill then came up and hit a single and would advance to third by productive outs from Mike Corcione and Corey Schoonmaker. With two outs, bottom of the 7th  in a tie game Brendan Clemens delivered the finishing touch with a base hit up the middle to complete the comeback and deliver the victory.

“I felt good, I swung the bat pretty well all game with nothing to show for it, kinda pulled a Mark LeMorta out there, said Clemens. But yea, when it came down to the wire I felt like I could hit it up the middle and that’s what I did.

“Hitting it up the middle is what you want to do in that situation” said Mark LeMorta, I mean a lot of men tend to struggle to be up the middle, hit it to right or left, it’s a problem. Luckily I am here to help with that and get you on the straight and narrow.”

The turning point of the game, however, was Conlin's huge 2 run game tying home run. "I hit that one pretty far, we needed that" said Conlin. "Happy we got the win."

The Fellas finish the regular season Thursday at Coyne and look to begin their quest for their second title next week.

Out Of Gas: Fellas Offense Can't Keep Momemtum Going, Suffer 3rd Loss

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas offense struggles, drop close game

After scoring 54 runs in 2 games and setting multiple franchise records, The Fellas showed up to their 3rd game in 5 days ready to keep the momentum going.

Unfortunately, The Fellas were off balance all night and missed multiple scoring opportunities to drop this contest 8-6. Nick Marciano pitched a good game and the Goodfellas defense played well but the lack of clutch hitting and leaving runners on base was too much for the Fellas overcome in this one.

The Fellas struck first by scoring 3 runs on a Hunter Moffatt moon shot home run which was setup by a single from Phil Sidoti and double by Bill Pulver. The Fellas wouldn’t score again until the 3rd via a SAC FLY from Mike Corcione. In the 6th The Fellas scored 2 more powered by a Tom Conlin opposite field double. In the 7th, The Fellas has a chance to take the lead with runners on first and second but they couldn’t get the job done.

“We were due for a game like this” said Mark LeMorta. “We would rather have a game like this now then during the playoffs.”  In other news, Bill Pulver appeared to still be suffering the effects of the Stone Cold Stunner received last week as he was seen limping during pregame. We will have to monitor his injury.

Déjà WOOOOOOOOO!: They Did It Again! Fellas Drop 26 Runs in Epic Performance

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas make history again with 26 runs, pick up 9th win

After Wednesday’s’ record setting performance in which the Goodfellas scored 28 runs they picked up right where they off by scoring 26 runs (12 in the first inning) to cruise to their 9th win of the season and essentially guarantee at least the 2nd seed in the playoffs (final score 26-5). With no Marciano on the mound for this one, The Fellas turned to Tom Conlin who pitched a tremendous game and lead the offense by going 5-5 with 4RBI, earning him the Player Of The Game Honors. He also was aggresive around the bases, making a couragoues dive into second with NASA reporting a shift in the Earth's rotation due to the impact.

Other highlights include:

  • Mark LeMorta going 4/5 – continuing his pursuit of the Triple Crown with 3 more RBI
  • Hunter Moffatt returns after 1 game hiatus and goes 3/3 with 5 RBI, 2 Doubles
  • Mike Corcione goes off picking up 3 hits and driving in 3 runs
  • Bill Pulver (fresh off a Stone Cold Stunner and kick to the balls) goes 3/3 with 3 RBI.

Defensively the Fellas looked sharp with both subs Chris Smith and Pat Loftus made nice place to contribute towards the victory. Mark LeMorta, Brendan Clemens& Bill Pulver made great plays in the outfield and Mike Corcione was like a cat behind home plate. Tom Conlin threw strikes, which is all you could ask for and even struck out a batter in his return to the bump. Out of the 26 runs the Fellas scored tonight, not one HR was hit which makes the offense even more impressive. The Fellas were also treated by a surprise guest with Hall Of Famer Keith Barrell and his father Ken attending. Now if only Keith brought his glove.....(but he did bring beer #316approved)

As great as things are going on the field, off the field is another story. This past week during the Pasta Bowl Breakdown it appears Stone Cold Steve Austin continues to raise concerns regarding his temperate. Not only did he threaten to kill the Goodfellas Director of Alcohol Consumption but he turned a heated situation between Bill Pulver & The Nature Boy Ric Flair into further turmoil by giving them both Stunners. Luckily the shot to the nuts to Pulver comes AFTER the production of his child, we just hope it doesn’t affect his future reproductive activities. On the bright side, Mark LeMorta may have a cure (or at least volunteer to look at it).

Somebody Stop The Dayum Match! – Fellas Dominate, Score 28 Runs in Mercy Rule Victory

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas set franchise record with 28 runs to secure win #8.

The first of three games the Fellas have within the next 5 days couldn’t have gone any better as the Fellas set a franchise record by scoring 28 runs backed by a great pitching performance from Nick Marciano and great defense all around. The Fellas had a 9-6 lead going into the third and absolutely exploded; scoring 19 unanswered runs fueled by massive drives and clutch base hits, mostly with 2 outs.
Some highlights include:

  • Brendan Clemens lead off home run
  • Mark Lemorta Grand Slam, 2 run home run and 9 RBIs
  • Bill Pulver 4-4 game with a Triple and 4RBI

Every single Fella had a hit tonight and everyone contributed towards the victory hence the POG going to the entire team. However, during the post-game interview Brian Hoffman (The Hoff/Rock) called out Stone Cold Steve Austin resulting in a brawl in the parking lot. There was no clear winner but it ended with Stone Cold giving himself a beer bath.

Triple H: Hunter’s Three Home Runs Propels Fellas to Victory

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Moffatt explodes for 3 HR as Fellas coast to win #6

After the long layoff between games the Fellas were hoping to get this game in due to the forecast and mother nature held off to allow the Fellas to take the field. Mike Corcione made his long awaited return from the DL and did not disappoint as Nick Marciano pitched  a gem to earn the Fellas their 6th win. Marciano was pitching a shut out through 4 and only allowed 2 runs and had 3 strike outs in his best outing of the season.

The offense backed him up with 13 runs tonight with 6 of them coming from Hunter Moffatt who hit a solo HR in the first inning to score the first run. Bill Pulver would hit a single in the 3rd and Hunter would hit a 2 run home run to drive in second and third run. In the 4th, Nick Marciano helped his own cause with a double and would score on Pat “the bat” Loftus’ RBI single. Brendan Clemens would drive Loftus in with an RBI single for the Fellas 5th run. In the 5th, Mark LeMorta sporting his brand new uniform lead off the inning with a solo shot followed by a single from Bill Pulver followed by an intentional walk for Bill Pulver. Brian Hoffman then hit a single followed by an RBI single for Nick Marciano. Mike Corcione then hit a 2 run single to score the 4th run in the inning and 9th overall. In the 6th, Mark LeMorta lead off with a single followed by a single from Bill Pulver. Hunter Moffatt then came up and hit his third home run of the night to put the exclamation point on the inning and the Fellas would win by a final score of 13-2.

“I am happy I was able to help the team, definitely helps when I have a jersey, I feel at home” said Hunter Moffatt. Many fans were saying “Jeff Who” after the Hunter’s third home run and Hunter took it all in stride. “Those were some big shoes to fill but it feels good to step in and get the job done.” Mike Corcione also had a big night in his return with 2 RBIs and 2 hits and the expression on his face after the game is what you would expect. Mark LeMorta, fresh from the National Penis Convention made one of the best plays in the outfield you will ever see, robbing a home run from the opposition. “I learned a lot at the NPC about going hard, and I took that mentality onto the field tonight added LeMorta.

Missed Opportunity: Fellas Fall to First Place Team After Long Layoff

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Plug gets pulled on offense and Fellas can't recover, drop second game of season

With nearly a month layoff due to the poor weather the Fellas were anxious to get back out on the field and do so against the 1st place team. The Fellas led this game at one point 6-3 but couldn’t continue the momentum and lost to a final score of 13-7.

Things started off with a base hit from Brendan Clemens followed by a base hit from Hunter Moffatt. Tom Colin then hit an RBI single and the returning Brian Hoffman hit a 2 run double for the first three runs. In the second, Nick Marciano and Mike Nicastro (Dumb sum bitch) hit back to back singles with a 2 run single from Brendan Clemens and an RBI single from Phil Sidoti to follow. Hunter Moffatt then hit a 2 run single to earn the Fellas 6th run. The Fellas wouldn’t score again until the 7th with a SAC FLY from Brian Hoffman.

The offense was off to a great start but feel flat for 5 innings. Defensively, there were some sloppy plays that resulted in 4 unearned runs for the Hitmen. Marciano pitched great but it was clear that his issues with home plate umpire Mike Pakatar in the 3rd were starting to effect his performance. In typical Pak fashion, the strike zone seemed to shrink when Nick was pitching and there at least 2-3 calls in the field that went against the Goodfellas that should have gone in their favor. Regardless of the calls, it doesn’t change the fact that the Goodfellas offense went silent.

“I was getting frustrated for sure, I mean he was squeezing me” said Marciano. “Just felt he could have been more consistent”

Hunter Moffatt was also fined for wearing a non approved team shirt resulting in confusion on the bases. He also did not know what time the game started which will result in another fine at the team party. He also was almost lapped on the base paths by Bill Pulver (think about that for a second) which will result in a third fine. All fines are issued by Mark LeMorta and he has been informed of the infractions.

Speaking of Mark LeMorta, he is set to return on July 14th after his time away learning about the male anatomy. With his new found knowledge he is now booking house calls for 1:1 consultations.

Grand Salami: Pulver’s Slam Ignites Fellas Offense for 4th Win

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Pulver's big smash propels offense to 4th win.

After a 3 week lay off due to scheduling and rain outs the Fellas were itching to get back out on the field. Adding to the fire was the emotional press conference the night prior announcing the departure of Jeff Brown. With those two factors coming into play the Fellas ignited for 16 runs to win this game 16-9.

Tom Conlin got the offense started with a double in the second and would come on to score by new full-timer Hunter Moffat’s 2 run home run. Matt Grill would single followed by back to back walks from Nick Marciano. Brendan Clemens then hit a 2 run single followed by an RBI single from LeMorta to take a 5-1 lead. The Degenerates would score 1 in the 3rd and the Fellas would come up empty bringing us to the 4th where the opposition scored 6 runs fueled by home runs to take an 8-5 lead.

Then Fellas responded with 7 unanswered runs started by a double from Brendan Clemens and a HBP by Phil Sidoti. Mark LeMorta then hit a single to load the bases and POG Bill Pulver sent one into orbit for Grand Slam to put the Fellas up 9-8. Marciano would hit a single followed by a single from Mike Nicastro. Phil Sidoti would hit an RBI single followed by an RBI double from Mark LeMorta.

The final dagger would come in the 7th as Bill Pulver hit his second home run of the game, 2 run shot earning him 6 RBI on the night and POG honors. In his postgame interview Pulver thanked Jeff Brown for leaving as it allowed him to get the clean up spot in the lineup. Bill planned to celebrate by having 2 meat lover’s pizza’s from Blaze. Jeff Brown is certain to be excited about the title of the postgame, but unfortunately decided to eat someone else’s salami.

Jeff’s replacement, Hunter Moffat played a tremendous game and also had a big 2 run home run and played stellar, yes stellar defense. We are happy to have Hunter on full time and look forward to his future contributions. In other news, Mark LeMorta DID NOT wear the sweatshirt tonight resulting in no home runs – coincidence?

That’s Gonna Leave a MARK: Injured LeMorta Delivers in Solid Team Effort

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: LeMorta scares then delivers as Goodfellas rally for tremendous team win (13-12)

After last week’s narrow victory the Goodfellas were hoping to come out of the gate early to set tone in this matchup. Tom Conlin took the mound in place of the birthday boy Nick Marciano and got into trouble early with walks and a few sloppy plays in the field; leading to the Goodfellas trailing 7-0 after 1.5 innings of play. In the bottom of the second, a well rested Bill Pulver started the Fellas off with a double and would come on to score via the hot hitting Matt Grill’s RBI double. Sub and former champion Pat Loftus hit an RBI single to drive in Pulver for the second run. Conlin would then settle down and only allow 3 runs over the next two innings backed by 5 runs from the fellas.

However, you could hear a pin drop in the 3rd after Mark LeMorta’s dive attempt at a fly ball and he started rolling around on the ground as if it were fire prevention week. LeMorta had dislocated his shoulder on the play and popped it back into place right on the field. He refused medical attention and refused to come out of the game although the entire team and the umpire suggested he leave the contest. Being the stubborn and tough SOB that he is, he refused to leave the game and continued on – resulting in numerous loud moans as he would try to throw the ball the rest of the game; sounds similar after a Pulver Chipotle extravaganza.

The hot hitting Brendan Clemens got things started in the comeback with a base hit followed by back to back walks from Phil Sidoti and Mark LeMorta. Clemens would come around to score on a fielders choice from Bill Pulver. Tom Conlin would draw a walk and would advance to second on a single from Matt Grill followed by a walk from Casey Schoonmaker who did a tremendous job filling in tonight. Brendan Clemens would hit an RBI single followed by an RBI single from Phil Sidoti. Mark LeMorta would contribute a SAC FLY and Jeff Brown would come up to a hit a HUGE 3 run home run to bring the Fellas back to within 1. Jeff was a little under the weather tonight with flu like symptoms and we appreciate his toughness in showing up tonight.

Tom Conlin would then keep the opposition at bay and Brendan Clemens would start the bottom of the 6th with a clutch double followed by a single from Phil Sidoti. The stage was set for the dramatic blow and LeMorta delivered a with a monster 3 run home run; rounding the bases holding his arm out in pain and it started to look like we were on the set of a Lifetime movie. Easily the front runner for moment of the year.  Brown would then come up and walk followed by an RBI single from Brian Hoffman and an RBI fielders choice from Tom Conlin.

In the bottom of the 7th, A Cut Above Landscaping pulled within 1 run and with 1 out a runner on first the batter hit a deep fly ball to LeMorta in center. The runner on first veered to far off and LeMorta threw a bullet to 1st base to nail the runner and win the game (with another moan thrown in there).

“I was just glad the guys got on in front of me, Brendan Clemens 4-4 today he’s my POG, I just kept my arm in and gave it a ride” said Mark LeMorta.  “This was a huge team win”

For the second week in a row, the Fellas came back and escaped with the narrow victory and another solid all around team effort. It should also be noted that the Fellas after 4 games have not had one person miss their turn in the beer schedule which is due to the tremendous job by our director of alcohol consumption Shaun Soucy.

In the NICK of Time: Solid Team Effort Leads to Big Win

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Solid team effort led by great pitching leads to the Goodfellas picking up their second win

With last week’s rain out and the previous game ending in disappointment The Fellas were anxious to get back on the field and get to work. Pitcher Nick Marciano wasn’t sure he was going to make it tonight, but he showed up right at game time to take the mound and luckily he brought his best stuff and struck out the first batter of the game and would not allow a run in the 1st.

In the bottom of the first, Brendan Clemens and Phil Sidoti started it off with back to back singles followed by an RBI single from Mark LeMorta to get the Fellas on the board. Jeff Brown would draw a walk and Tom Conlin would also draw a walk; picking up an RBI. Matt Grill then hit a SAC fly to earn the Fellas 3rd run and after 1 the Fellas were up 3-0. Graney’s Stout would score 1 in the second and 3 in the 3rd but the Fellas were able to limit the damage. In the second, Brendan Clemens hit an RBI single and the fellas wouldn’t score again until the 5th in which Jeff Brown hit a double followed by a single from Brian Hoffman and an RBI single from Tom Conlin. The game was tied at 5 going into the bottom of the 6th, and Scott Matheson hit a clutch double and would score on player of the game Nick Marciano’s RBI single. Nick did it all – going 3/3 with a triple, and 2 singles while striking out 3 and playing tremendous defense on the mound.

During his post game interview, Nick Marciano said this win meant everything to him and that he was happy to contribute in such a big way. When Jeff Brown found out during the post game that Nick had a connection at Pellegrino’s (who makes delicious subs) he asked if the team could go there to celebrate, unfortunately, they were already closed. “This was a great team effort” said BOD Mark LeMorta,  “ I just hope Jeff can settle for Domino’s tonight”.

Slugfest Battle: Fellas Drop Close Game In High Scoring Affair

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Slugfest ends with Fellas on losing end

After last week's tremendous opening game this week featured a ton of offense, some questionable defense and plenty of missed opportunities. The Fellas had their chances but came up short is this 19-14 slugfest.

In the first Hitmen's couldn't throw a strike walking 7 out of the 8 batters resulting in the Fellas scoring 4 to respond to Hitmens 3 runs in the top of the first.  In the second the Fellas scored 4 more lead by a 2 run HR by Mark LeMorta and a 2 run single from Matt Grill.

The Fellas would go quite until the 5th but scored runs on an RBI single from Brendan Clemens a 2 run single from Brian Hoffman and another 2 run home run by Mark LeMorta. However Hitmen's offense along with questionable defense by the Goodfellas was too much to overcome in the second game of the season. The Fellas left the bases load 4 different times, and not cashing in on those opportunities proved to be the difference maker. The Fellas look to re-group next week and put this tough loss behind them.

hOFF To A Good Start: Fellas Victorious in First Game Of Season

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Home runs, pitching and vintage defense propels Fellas to Opening Day victory

After last year’s disappointing finish the Fellas anxiously awaited a new season; filled with new hope, some new faces and a new attitude. On this beautiful opening day the Fellas came out of the gate strong and played one of the best opening day games in franchise history. The offseason redesign was complete, the rebuild portion is in progress and the end game is ultimately to reclaim the title. The Fellas have a long way to go before they can start thinking about the playoffs but tonight’s game was an indication that the team is headed in the right direction.

In the first inning, Phil Sidoti reached after being hit by a pitch (move out of the way you DSB) and would advance to second on a base hit by  reigning Co- MVP “Big Red” Mark LeMorta. The other reigning CO-MVP, Jeff Brown, then came up and hit an RBI single to get the Fellas on the board. Bill Pulver would then hit a SAC FLY for the second run and Player of The Game Brian Hoffman followed with an RBI double. In the second, new comer Hunter Moffatt hit a towering home run to left to give the Fellas their 4th run. In the third, Mark LeMorta got things started with a base hit followed by a base hit from Bill Pulver. Brian Hoffman then came up and hit a 3 run line drive home run followed by a deep solo home run from Tom Conlin.

In the 4th, Brendan Clemens hit a rocket base hit down the line and would come around to score via Mark LeMorta’s moonshot 2 run home run. Jeff Brown then hit a double and Bill Pulver hit an “epic” RBI triple which was a display of some of the worst base running you will ever see. Nonetheless, he was safe and reigning Fan Of The Year, Jaimie Pulver looked on in relief but in utter disbelief. Luckily, Jack Pulver arrived after the incident avoiding a potentially dangerous situation.

At this point the Fellas were up 12-0 and Nick Marciano was cruising through the line-up along with great defense to support him. The Fellas needed 3 outs in the 5th to win the game via the mercy rule but Jack Byrne Auto had 2 bloops and a blast to score the 3 runs. A similar situation would happen in the 6th inning, with 2 bleeders dropping in followed by a blast to the cut the lead in half. However, Marciano settled down and the Fellas defense came up with nice plays to win this one by a final score of 12-6.

“We played great as a team tonight and everyone enjoyed themselves, it was great to get back out there and get the win” said Coach Phil. “Couldn’t ask for better weather or for a better way to start the year”.

Goodfellas SS Jeff Brown, also excited for the team’s first win shared his plans to celebrate. “Well tomorrow is Taco Tuesday so I really shouldn’t splurge tonight but after this win, I am thinking of pulling the trifecta tonight (Wendy’s, Burger King, McDonalds).

Player of The Game Brian Hoffman was also interviewed live on the field; a new tradition the Fellas have implemented for each win this season.  He was excited about the win but was still questioning Mark LeMorta’s attire. “I mean I have been fined numerous times for the wrong shirt, wrong pair of shorts etc. I hope Coach Phil comes down hard on Mark for the sweatshirt tonight.” Said Hoffman.

According to team rule 1.14, the sweatshirt is not a violation of team policy as it was a team issued sweatshirt.

With this big win to start the season the Fellas look to continue the momentum in their game on May 1st.
