Replacements Deliver: Fellas Pick Up Bounce Back Victory

More Controversy, Another Loss: Fellas Slide Continues

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Short staffed Goodfellas face uphill battle vs. questionable pitcher

After a 1-3 start, the Goodfellas looked to turn things around with  another tense battle with Church League Castoffs. Once again, the game was met with controversy as the opposing pitcher was throwing illegal for most of the game. Coach Phil addressed the situation with both the commissioner and the umpire, very little was done to remedy the situation and the team decided to play through it. Coach Phil and the BOD will discuss the path forward from here.

The other issue with this game is the Goodfellas were missing eight of their main starters, however, the subs were great and we appreciate them coming out to play a 9 o’clock game. This game saw the return of Joe Amiccuci and Nick Lamalfa, two studs that have played for the Goodfellas in the past. They both had a solid showing, and it was great to get them back out on the field. The highlight of the evening was Joe Amicccui wearing his USA A-Rod baseball jersey, which was quite snug.

Coach Phil was visibly stunned after the loss, resulting in their worst start since 2007. However, the show must go on, and there is plenty of time to turn things around. With the league issues are addressed,he boys will continue to grip, rip and sip.

Walkoff Heartbreak: Fellas Suffer Tough Loss

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas can't hang on and lose via walk off home run to drop to 1-3 on the season

After spliting last weeks double header the Fellas faced a tough match up vs Rector. The game was back and forth with both sides offense showing up and putting up a ton of runs. Griner, Schaub, Chiera and Bergman all hit home runs but scoring 17 runs was not enough to take this one as Rector scored 18 runs, with the final run being a walk off home run to end the game. Capoccitti did his best on the mound but Rector's bats hit the ball all over the park. The defending champs are now 1-3 for the first time in 12 years. Plenty of time to rebound but without the regular roster, its going to be bumpy until baseball seasons ends.

Jekyl & Hyde: Fellas Split Doubleheader

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas dominaite game 1 but tough pitching stymies offense in game 2

After dropping the season opener, the Fellas took the field looking to rebound and pick up their first win. Rebound would be an understatemnt as the team put on an offensive clinic dropping 17 runs. Billy Creighton hit a home run and had 5 RBI and Nick DeBrino had a big game going 3/3. Myers pitched well and the Fellas crused to a mercy rule victory. Game 2, however, was totally different as the Rector's pitcher was dominate and kept the Fellas off balance all game. The game was close with the Fellas defense making great plays, but they ultimately fell short losing by 2. Brian Hoffman walked 6 times in this double header, one patient sum bitch.

The Goodfellas – 10

The Goodfellas win World Series 2-0

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: HISTORY MADE! Fellas win the World Series to capture 4th title in franchise history

3peat complete! The Goodfellas have done what no other team in league history has done by winning three straight championships. Game 2 was tight the whole way, with the Fellas trailing 4-1 headed into the 4th. But the boys turned it on in the 4th and 5th to take a one lead, led by clutch hits from Liam Rowland, Matt Grill and Dan Capoccitti, and Nick DeBrino. The 6th inning is where the Fellas pulled away by scoring 5 runs lead by back to back home runs from Billy Creighton and Nick DeBrino and big hits from Brian Hoffman and Dan Capoccitti. Ryan Myers pitched a gem only allowing 4 runs and was supported by tremendous defense all night. Defensive standouts include Liam Rowland and the entire Goodfellas outfield.

Nick DeBrino & Ryan Myers were named co-World Series MVPs with their outstanding performance on both sides of the ball. This was a huge team series win and the Fellas pulled off a feat that is not easy to do. Congratulations Fellas, time to party! Goodfellas win series 2-0

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Offense comes alive in th 5th to punch ticket to Fall Classic

One more win and the Fellas were headed back to World Series. Game 2 started off with the Fellas offense going hitless through the first 2 innings. The Fellas scored 3 runs in the third lead by Billy Creighton’s single and the game would be tied at 3 headed into the 5th. In the 5th the Fellas pulled away by scoring 6 runs with Milson, Sidoti, B. Rowland setting the table with back to back walks to load the bases. DeBrino, Creighton and the Griner brothers cashed in to get the 6 runs and the Fellas would add two more over the 6th and 7th. Headed into the 7th the Fellas were up 11-3 and Hogan’s would make it interesting by scoring 6 runs and bringing the winning run to home plate but the Fellas exhaled and made the final out to punch their ticket to the World Series!

Streak Continues: Fellas Offense Delivers in 4th Straight Win

The Goodfellas: 14

Hogan’s Gym: 8

PASTA BOWL BRAKDOWN: Fellas extend winning streak to 4 straight, playoffs in site.

The winning streak continues as the Fellas extend this run to 4 straight with a big victory against Hogan’s Gym. The offense stepped up big with big hits all around. The Fellas struck early with 5 runs in the first with hits from both Rowlands, DeBrino, Griner & Grill. 2 more would get added in the second with an RBI single from Brian Hoffman and a SAC Fly from Billy “Big Show” Crieghton. The big blow came in the 3rd as the Fellas scored 6 runs which featured big hits from Grill, Nicastro, Myers, Sidoti, Both Rowlands and Billy Crieghton.

Hogan’s tried to chip away but the Fellas answered each time, including solid defense through the game. The field conditions were less then ideal but DeBrino and Hoffman were able to navigate the left side of the infield just fine. Hogan’s is the likely to be the Fellas opponent in the first round so the timing of this match up came at a good time.

There is only one regular season game left….. Then the real fun begins.

Resurrection: Fellas Rise Up, Defeat First Place Team

The Goodfellas: 14

Church League Castoffs: 9

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas rise to occassion, stun first place team

In what could be a World Series preview The Fellas knew they would need to step up to beat the first place team and that’s exactly what they did. The game was neck and neck until the 5th with the score going back and forth. With a 7-7 score in the 5th, the Fellas dropped the hammer scoring 7 runs and never looked back. Church League Castoffs would make it interesting but Myers and the Goodfellas defense stepped up big to pick up the biggest victory of the year.

Billy Creighton stole the show with 3 absolute monster home runs and 7 RBI earning himself POG honors. Nick DeBrino was sensational at shortstop and made plays the killed any momentum Church League had. The Ryan brothers also made a huge impact with Kevin Ryan making one of the most incredible catches you will ever. This was true team effort with contributions from everyone. Hoffman was a homer away from the cycle, Rowland in the leadoff spot played a big factor as he drew two walks and scored in both instances. Rookie Nick Shaub also had a fantastic debut, hitting a home run and playing solid defense at 2B.

With this big win, the Fellas have 2 games remaining until they kickoff their post season run. Getting hot at the right time!

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Myer's dominates on the mound, offense delivers in much needed victory

It finally stopped raining for once allowing the Goodfellas to take the field after nearly a 1 month layoff. The team would be missing Brendan Rowland, Brian Hoffman and Dan Capoccitti but regardless showed up and took care of business. The Fellas scored 3 runs early, with hits from Liam Rowland, Matt Grill, Mike Milson and Ryan Myers. In the 4th the Fellas put this one away scoring 5 runs lead by hits form Liam Rowland, Nick DeBrino, Billy Creighton, Mike Griner and Matt Grill.

The offense although not there best night (from a power perspective) cashed in with timely hitting and got guys in when they needed. Defensively, the Fellas were rock solid with great plays made all around. Ryan Myers was sensational, allowing only 4 hits and pitching 7 shutout innings earning him Player of the Game honors. Back On Track: Fellas Offense Comes to Life in Victory

The Goodfellas – 14
Chambers Sports Performance – 1

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Offense returns and defense is solid in much needed victory

After 2 tough losses and a beat down from the Dominicans the Fellas were looking to stop the bleeding and end the their longest losing streak in 5 years. After a few rainouts the Fellas had not played in 2 weeks. On top of that, the team would be without Billy Creighton, Brendan Rowland, Mike Griner (DSB) and Michael Nicastro (2XDSB). Sean Ryan and Ryan Mcgee joined as subs to fill the void and it paid dividends.

It was a close game until the third and that’s when the Goodfellas offensive exploded for 8 runs. Liam Rowland started that inning off with a triple followed by a 2 run home run from rookie Nick DeBrino. Grill, Henchy, Mcgee, Capoccitti and Myers all reached out singles and the big blow came from Sean Ryan with a moon shot grand slam to left field. The fellas would add 4 more runs in the 4th/5th led by Dan Capoccitti’s 2 run single and timely hitting from the middle of the order.

Ryan Myers was brilliant, pitching 5 innings and giving up zero earned runs. He also struck out 1 batter in this contest.

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Goodfellas overmatched in no chance game

After 2 losses in a row the next tasks vs. Madison’s Pub (Dominicans) was going to be another uphill battle. The Fellas were overmatched from the get go, with the Madison Pub pitcher dominating. The Goodfellas struck out 11 times in this game and only had 3 hits; shut out for the first time in franchise history. Defensively, the Fellas did well even though Billy Pulver almost sent one to the moon from third base in which is certainly a candidate for Moment on the Year. PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: 7th inning collapse and untimely hitting lead to back to back losses

After last weeks tough loss the Fellas looked to rebound on Player’s Night, a night they have never lost. However, untimely hitting and a collapse in the 7th left the Fellas stunned as they let one slip away. For the first time in 5 years the Fellas have lost back to back games and their game Friday vs the Dominicans is another tough task.

There were bright spots in this one with a long home run from Billy Creighton and extra base hits from Liam Rowland and Nick DeBrino. Ryan Myer’s pitched well enough to give the Fellas a chance but like last game things just didn’t fall into place.

Friday Night Curse: Offense Silenced In Second Loss of Season

Orion DES - 6
The Goodfellas - 5

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Enemic offense combined with defensive blunders leads to Goodfellas second loss of the season

Friday nights throughout Goodfellas history has always been a crap shoot. Headed into the 4th of July weekend the Fellas took the field without Creighton, DeBrino, Nicastro and both Griner’s. Bobby Bergman, Mike Milson, Bill Pulver and Kyle Donnelly were called up to fill in and we appreciate them helping out.

The Fellas offense got off to a good start with a 3 run home run from Bill Pulver but after that the offense was essentially non-existent. Myers pitched well enough to give the Fellas a chance to win but defensive mishaps lead to 4 unearned runs which proved to be the difference maker in this contest. Trailing 6-4 in the bottom of the 7th, the Fellas threatened by scoring 1 and having the bases loaded with 2 outs setting up a potential walk off. However, the big hit didn’t come and the Fellas lost their second game of the season.

Besides the air quality being horrendous, Matt Grill knew there was a “Goodfellas type of game” in the air. Propane? Nostradamus? Matt Grill knew this game was going to be a tough one. The Fellas look to put this one behind them and get ready for a fun night with Player’s Night taking place next week.

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas offense, Myer's pitching shines in mercy rule victory

After last week’s huge victory over Frozen Ropes, the Fellas were riding the momentum into what sure to be another battle. The offense came out of the gate with 5 runs with a Triple from the big fella Billy Creighton, back to back doubles from Mike Griner and Billy Pulver, RBI Triple from Nick DeBrino and an RBI single from Dan Capoccitti. The Fellas bats, however, would go silent from the 2-4 innings but in the 5th things came together and there was no looking back. The Fellas scored 10 runs in the 5th to force a mercy rule victory. The offensive parade was led by a 3 run homer Billy Creighton, 2 run single from Dan Capoccitti and clutch hits from both Griner’s, Liam Rowland, Nick DeBrino and Ryan Myers. The knockout blow came from DSB Brian Hoffman, who hit a walk off 2 run home run.

Defensively, the Fellas were spectacular, with great plays made all around. Ryan Myer’s pitched a great game allowing only 2 runs.

Pulling On The Same Rope: Fellas Prevail in Huge Team Win

The Goodfellas – 7
SJR Masonry Restoration (Frozen Ropes) -6

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Classic matchup as advertised, Goodfellas prevail in clutch win

The Fellas had this game circled on the calendar the day it was released. The Goodfellas are no strangers to Frozen Ropes and have had many games over the last 17 years. Coming off their big win last week, The Fellas entered this contest knowing it was going to be a heavy weight battle. And boy, was it ever with an intensity we haven’t felt in a game in some time.

The Fellas trailed 3-0 early but Myers and the defense settled down thereafter. Tremendous plays made all around with a huge play made by Liam Rowland with bases load that could have changed the outcome of the game. The outfield played a tremendous game with Henchey, Griner, and both Rowland’s having huge games. The Fellas tied the game in the third with the Rowland brothers adding a SAC fly and 2 run single. The big blow came in the 5th from the big fellas, as Creighton hit a 3 run bomb to right center. Mike Nicastro would add insurance with an RBI single to put the game in the Fellas favor 7-3. Frozen Ropes added 3 runs in the 6th to make it interesting but Myers shut them down in the 7th to seal the victory.

Dan Capoccitti (our spirit animal) almost got into a fight with the pitcher but cooler heads prevailed. He was also a stud behind the plate in this one.

Rebound: Fellas Bounce Back in Big Win

The Goodfellas: 16
Melonheads: 1

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Back in business, Fellas dominiate in offensive clinic

After last weeks short staffed loss, the fellas looked to rebound and this game would kickoff a 4 game stretch vs. tough opponents. Right out of the gate the Fellas were on fire hitting the ball all over the place. Hoffman, both Rowlands Creighton and Myers all hit singles leading to a 4 run first inning. The real damage came in the second when the Fellas scored 8 runs fueled by extra base hits from DeBrino, Brendan Rowland, and Henchy. Creighton would add a 2 run bomb and after 4 innings the Fellas were up 16-0. Melonheads added a run in the bottom of the 5th but the game would end in a mercy rule with the game only taking 53 minutes.

Defensively, The Fellas were solid with great players made all around including a over the shoulder catch at shortstopp by rookie Nick DeBrino. Myers pitched about as good as game as you could pitch allowing only 1 run and striking out 1.

This was a big win after last week's loss and next week's game will be the Goodfellas biggest challenge in a long time as they face the Dominican Allstars.

Silent Night: Fellas Fall Short In Comeback Effort for First Loss

Church League Castoffs: 9
The Goodfellas:  7

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Shorthanded Goodfellas still battle but can’t complete the comeback, drop game 3.

With the Fellas missing both Griners, Hoffman, Nicastro and DeBrino the Fellas turned to their subs to fill in the voids. They played great but losing 5 starters had an big impact on the offense. Brendan Clemens came off the paternity list and led the game off with a double (still got it!). Creighton would drive him in with an RBI single followed by an RBI single from Matt Grill. The Fellas didn’t score again until the 3rd with Creighton hitting another RBI single and Dan Capoccitti hitting a warning track  Sac Fly. After trailing 5-2 the Fellas would take the lead in the 6th to go ahead 6-5. However, Church League scored 3 runs in the top of the 7th and it was too much to overcome. Rowland would hit a solo shot to make a 2 run game but that would be the only glimmer of

hope in the 7th inning.

Myer’s pitched well overall and defensively the Fellas were solid. A great game and we appreciate the subs stepping up tonight to fill in.

In a highly anticipated World Series matchup, things were close through 3 innings. With the score being 2-2 headed into the 4th it looked like the game would be competitive. Grand Opening: Fellas Victorious In Start of 2023 Campaign

The Goodfellas: 25

Chambers Sports Performance: 9

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas offense and Capps on the mound propels Fellas to Opening Day victory

After a long winter and fresh off their second consecutive title the Goodfellas took the field to kick off the 2023 campaign. Capps took the mound as Ryan Myers chased his son around Magic Kingdom and pitched a great game. Much of that had to do with the return of Mike Corcione behind the plate who called a great game (there’s a reason he’s a Hall of Famer). Offensively, the Fellas had a lot of help, with Chamber's pitcher struggling to find the strike zone all night, walking 13 Fellas in 5 innings. Beside the walks, the offense did their thing with every Goodfellas having a hit (except Brian Hoffman – DSB) and most having 2+ hits.

Billy Creighton hit the first home of the 2023 season and it still hasn’t landed. Matt Grill hit an inside the park home run and is tied for the team lead in home runs (time to retire). Rookie’s Mike Griner and Nick DeBrino played great with Griner going 5/5 with 2 RBI and DeBrino going 4/5 with an RBI. DeBrino, who has been in the Goodfellas farm system since 2009 made quite the impression, earning him the Player of the Game honors.

Other offensive studs included Brendan Rowland, Joe Griner and Mike Corcione who all had extra base hits.It should also be noted that Joe Griner swung at the first pitch he saw to kick off the season and flied out - DSB.

BACK TO BACK!: THE FELLAS ARE CHAMPIONS FOR THE 3RD TIME IN FRANCHISE HISTORY

The Goodfellas – 23

Hogan’s Gym – 3

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: THE FELLAS ARE WORLD CHAMPIONS AGAIN!

History has been made! For the second year in a row and for 3rd time in 16 years the Goodfellas are champions of softball! Game 2 was an epic performance, with the Fellas taking matters into their own hands and refusing to let a question Hogan’s Gym dethrone them. The Fellas were down 3-1 after the first inning and the game was tied after 3 innings. Brendan Rowland’s 2 run home run and Bill Pulver’s RBI single made it a 3-3 game. However, in the 4th inning the Goodfellas offense went off with an inside the park grand slam from Brendan Clemens, and a 2 run home run from Bill Pulver. Dan Capoccitti added an RBI walk and Phil Sidoti hit an RBI single. The Fellas would add one more run in the 5th win a solo home run from Casey Schoonmaker and 2 more in the 6th with a 2 run home run from Brian Hoffman. In the 7th, with the trophy in sight the Fellas put on an offensive clinic with a 2 run double from Anthony Gadani, 2 run home run from Brendan Rowland, and solo home run from Bill Pulver and several base hits from the rest of the team for a total of 7 runs; bringing the score to 23-3. The final out was hit to Coach Phil who stepped on first baseman and the champagne followed.

Fall Classic Indeed: Fellas Prevail in Game 1

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas comeback and prevail in first game of Fall Classic

To be the man you gotta beat the man. Ric Flair’s famous quote still rings true as the Goodfellas kicked off their second consecutive World Series. This game had a little bit of everything and the Fellas put on a showing for the ages in a come from behind victory. The Fellas were down 6-0 early with Hogan’s pouring it on offensively and the Goodfellas not scoring in the first two innings. But in the third the bats came alive with the Fellas scoring 7 runs and taking the lead. Dan Capoccitti, Phil Sidoti & Anthony Gadani set the stage with singles and Brendan Rowland cashed in with a grand slam. Creighton then worked a walk and Schoonmaker hit a 2 run bomb to shift the momentum. The Fellas then went on to score 4 more in the 5th with a Creighton 2 run home , a Schoonmaker homer and an RBI single from Brendan Clemens.

Headed into the 7th the Fellas were up by 5 looking to shut it down but Hogans would not go down without a fight. Controversy all over this inning with the first one being over a dropped ball vs. transfer at first base on a routine play. It was clearly a drop on the transfer but the umpire was a DSB and coach Phil nearly became the second Goodfella in history to get tossed. This opened the door for Hogan’s to build momentum and they trailed 12-11. A deep shot was then hit to right field and the runner was going for from the relay from Grill to Schoonmaker to room was absolute perfection with Pulver making an amazing tag to end the game in dramatic fashion. A similar play was made in the early part of the game with Rowland throwing a guy out at the plate. Point being – don’t run on the Fellas and the defense played flawless softball.

With one game down, the Fellas look to wrap the series up Monday and remain on the top of the mountain.

Ticket Punched: Fellas Complete the Comeback and Are Headed to the World Series

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Myers gem and offense sends the Fellas back to the Fall Classic

The Goodfellas – 13
MSI – 1

Fellas win the NLCS 2-1

Just like last year the Fellas entered game 3 looking to complete the comeback and punch their ticket to the World Series. Myers took the mound looking to regain his confidence after a rough game 1 and boy did he deliver. Myer’s pitched an absolute gem, backed by a solid defense and the offense picked up right where they left off with timely hits. Fella’s run on dunkin paid huge dividends as the number of pops up dramatically decreased throughout the series and it was exactly what the team needed to get back on track.

Big hits came from the Billy Boys, Pulver and Creighton who each had 2 home runs and a combined total of 7 RBI. Matt Grill was a perfect 2-2 with an RBI and Brian Hoffman got the bat going picking up two hits. Gadani strung together a few hits and the Fellas patience at the plate allowed them to strike and put this one away early in 13-1 mercy rule victory.

The Fellas are headed back to the World Series for the second year in a row and their 5th appearance in 16 years.

Fellas Strike Back: Clutch Performances Lead to a Tied-Up Series

The Goodfellas – 18

MSI – 11

NLCS tied 1-1

Game 1 of the NLCS for the Goodfellas was clunker, no other way to put it. With the season on the line many variables with in play.  Ryan Myers was on the bereavement list, resulting in Dan Capoccitti getting his first playoff start in over 10 years. Casey Schoonemaker was going to arrive late, which resulted in Brendan Rowland (amazing) playing shortstop. The Fellas knew they had score runs and make a statement early otherwise they would be in trouble.

Earlier in the day, Coach Phil sent around a motivational video to fire up the team. In that video he claimed the Fellas would win by 7, Capps would pitch a gem and the offense would show up big – he was spot on with all three projects.

The star of the game here was Dan Capoccitti who kept MSI off balance all night and was a perfect 4/4 at the plate; one of the hottest hitters in the lineup the last 3 games. He battled and even as he ran out of gas in the 7th inning he hung in there long enough to seal the deal. A pitching performance for the ages and one that will go down as one of most clutch moments in franchise history.

Offensively, the sleeping giant woke up (literally – Pulver & Creighton). Clutch hits all night and with Fellas Run on Dunkin back in play, the singles and doubles started pouring which also took pressure off the big bats allowing them to hit the big flys. Brendan Rowland hit 2 home runs, Billy Pulver hit a solo shot and Casey Schoonemaker hit a pitch hit home run to seal the deal in the bottom of the 6th. Joey Griner “Mr. 9PM” hit a home run as well and played great defense. Other big hits came from Brendan Clemens, Brian Hoffman, Billy Creighton and Matt Grill who had a huge game at the plate which include a triple.

Defensively, a gusty effort all around with Rowland shining at shortstop and Coach Phil just feeling it over at first base with a couple momentum shifting plays. “Big Country” Billy Creighton also made a few big plays out in right field and threw out a runner at home while the rest of the outfield held down the fort.

The momentum is back with the Goodfellas and Monday night they look to punch their ticket to the World Series.

Deja vu: Fellas Drop Game 1 of NLCS

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas offense doesn't show up, lose in stunner

The Goodfellas – 5
MSI – 15

In a rematch of the NLCS from last year the Fellas knew going into this game they would have their hands full. After suffering a loss to MSI just 2 weeks ago the Fellas looked to be aggressive and get ahead early. However, tonight the offense simply struggled and fly ball after fly ball after fly ball resulted in the Fellas going 10/30 as a team which is one of their worst offensive showings in postseason history. Defensively, not their best game but Myer's struggled to find his rhytm and MSI hit the ball hard. A game to forget for sure but one to learn from. The Fellas will indeed to repeat history and win game 2 to stay alive. This series is FAR from over, but simply not a game they can replicate if they look to remain on top of the mountain.

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Bats come alive and defense is solid in win number 13

After last week’s stunning defeat vs MSI the Fellas rebounded by scoring 16 runs and playing elite defense in the 16-2 victory. Coach Phil took the mound and survived a collision with Bill Pulver which looked like Toyota Prius hitting a UPS truck head one. Speaking of Pulver, he had a phenomenal night with 2 home runs and 5 RBI earning him Co-Player of the Game honors. Kyle Donnelly also had 2 home runs with 4 RBI and played tremendous defense. Joining the 2 home run parade was also Billy Creighton who had 3 RBI on two bombs. Other notable offense standouts included Matt Grill who was 3/4 and Dan Capoccitti who was 3/4. Liam Rowland subbed tonight and was 3/4 and just missed a home run by inches. He also almost broke his legs due to Coach Phil being a DSB and hitting an inside pitch that nearly took Rowland leg off in the ondeck circle.

A good team win with lots of laughs. Next stop… POSTSEASON.

Stunner: Fellas Bid For Perfection Ends in First Loss

MSI - 19
The Goodfellas - 11

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas out played in every aspect, suffer first defeat in 2022.

No excuses here. The Fellas came in to this game flat and the offense struggled early on. MSI was looking for revenge; losing to the Fellas in the NLCS last year and also being mercied earlier in the season. The score was 9-0 at one point and the Fellas did chip away to make it 11-7.  But just as quickly as they rebounded they gave it right back and trailed 19-7. They would score 4 more but the rally ended and the Fellas suffered their first loss of the 2022 campaign. With a win next week, the boys still clinch and the number 1 seed and home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Full steam ahead as Fellas pick up 12 in a row on offensive clinic

With only 3 games to go in the season the Fellas are looking to make history by running the table and set themselves up for a championship run. Tonight, the Fellas took care of business dropping 26 runs in an absolute stunning display of offense. Casey Schoonmaker hit 3 Home runs and added 8 RBI, earning him his first ever Player of the Game honor as a member of the team. Brendan Rowland did his thing hitting a home run and adding 6 RBI – 14 out of the 26 runs were driven in by these two Fellas alone! Anthony Gadani had a big night as well with a double and 2 RBI and the birthday boy Brian Hoffman had 3 hits and 2 RBI’s.

On the mound Myers was keeping the momentum going and pitched a solid game. Tune Squad showed up with a completely different team then last time but it didn’t matter.

Dirty Swingers - 5

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Back to back nights of mashing as Fellas drop 18 runs in dominating victory

Let’s play 2! After last night’s win the Fellas were excited to get back on the field 24 hours later. It was just a matter of Mother Nature cooperating. It did pour but not enough to cancel the game and game 11 went on as scheduled. The Fellas picked up right where they left off with the offense clicking on all cylinders and Ryan Myers pitching like his normal self.

Leading the offense was Brendan Rowland who had three home runs in this game with 6 RBI and Joe Griner was a perfect 4/4 with 4 RBI and homer. Billy Pulver also hit a bomb as did Casey Schoonmaker. Brian Hoffman also had a nice night going 3/3 and gave everyone a scare rounding third when it looked like he may have injured himself. Luckily, he’s just a DSB and is fine.

Bill Pulver caught a great game but still has a lot to learn from Dan Capoccitti. This is only the 4th game this year that went a seven full innings and The Fellas got the job done to remain undefeated and pick up win number 11 on the season.

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas keep rocking and rolling with 10th straight win

Mullens Park doesn’t always mean 20 runs and that was certainly the case (but 13 works!) Big hits came from Anthony Gadani (POG) with 2 home runs and 5 RBI, Brendan Rowland with a bomb home run and solo shot from Billy Creighton. Casey Schoonmaker, Brendan Clemens, Bill Pulver and Ryan Myers added clutch doubles. The Fellas scored in every inning expect the second and played solid defense all evening. Ryan Myers didn’t have his A+ stuff but battled through it and hung in there to keep Big Blue at four.

LET’S GO: Gutsy Performance Keeps Fellas Undefeated

The Goodfellas – 12

Stooges – 9

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Only one undefeated team remains as Fellas earn a quality win

This game very well may have been a preview a postseason match up down the road. Both the Fellas and Stooges entered this game 7-0 the Fellas knew this game would be a challenge. The Fellas found themselves trailing 5-2 after the first and 6-4 after 2. In the top of 6th, the Fellas were down 9-6 and put together a clinic in patience at the plate and timely hitting, scoring 6 runs to take a 12-9 lead. Myer’s settled down and Brendan Rowland made one of the most unbelievable plays you will ever see in the outfield to lock in the win.

Half of the runs scored tonight came up the bat of Billy Pulver who has 2 home runs and 6 RBIs and was inspired by the ice cream truck showing up in the 5th inning. Brendan Rowland had two clutch doubles adding 3 RBIs and Michael Nicastro hit ropes all night with singles. Dan Capoccitti also played a big role in setting the table by drawing 3 walks on the night to keep the line up turning over.

This was a huge win, and the Fellas will look to keep the momentum going next week.

On Fire: Fellas Dominate in World Series Rematch

The Goodfellas – 29
Albany Fire – 1

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Subs step up in huge way and deliver hit after hit after hit scoring a franchise high 29 runs.

The highly anticipated World Series rematch from last season was something the Fellas were looking forward to. However, this game got out of hand quickly as the Goodfellas poured it on early and never looked back. The game ended after only 3 innings; Albany Fire simply walked off the field and said have a nice weekend.

Dan Capoccitti thrived in his second start of the season and only gave up 1 run in the first inning. The defense behind him was solid and the offense was at another level. With only 9 players, Rowland, Clemens and Donnelly stepped up in the outfield and covered a lot of extra ground.  With the Fellas being down many of their starters, subs Liam Rowland, Kyle Clemens and Kyle Donelly stepped up big time and played great games. Liam and Dan made a statement in their Goodfellas debut and long time veteran Kyle Clemens picked up right where he left out by being aggressive and looking like Yogi Bera behind the plate.

The Fellas were on pace to score over 40 runs had the game continued. Offensively (besides the other team making some errors) the Fellas looked like a well oil machine. Brendan Rowland had 2 home runs and 8 RBI, Brendan Clemens kept his magical season going with a 5/6 night (and 3 RBI) and the subs were outstanding at the plate. Liam Rowland added two triples and 4 RBIs and was a perfect 4/4, Kyle Donelly was 3/4 with 3 RBI and Kyle Clemens was a perfect 4/4 with 2 RBIs. Schoonmaker also had himself a nice night going 3/3 with 3 RBI.

The Goodfellas face their biggest test of the season next week as they go against the only other remaining undefeated team.

Broomsticks: Fellas Sweep Double Header In Dominate Fashion

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Double the fun. Fellas dominate double header in back to back mercy run victories.

After Friday’s big victory the Fellas took the field in a double header match up that turned into an offensive clinic quickly. In Game 1 the Fellas dropped 20 runs, fueled by huge hits all around. Rowland, Griner and Creighton all went deep in Game 1 with extra base hits coming Schoonmaker, and Pulver. The defense was rock solid and Ryan Myers pitched with ease giving up only 1 run while picking up a couple of hits.

Game 2 the Fellas faced a tougher opponent but that didn’t stop the offense from scoring 18 runs with Home Runs from Clemens, Gadani, Pulver, Creighton and Schoonmaker. Griner and DSB Nicastro added extra base hits and defense was solid against a much better hitting team. However, the Fellas made quick work ending the game via the mercy rule in the 5th.

With the sweep the Fellas are now 6-0 on the season and rolling!

The Goodfellas - 20

Fellas Drop Game 1 of NLCS, Face Must Win Matchup Monday Night

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Offense does not show up, face must win game Monday night

With all the momemtum from the NLDS things were looking good for the Fellas. However, the offense did not show up tonight and Mid State shut them down by only allowing 5 runs. The fellas led this game 4-1 going into the 6th, but the wheels fell off as Mid State scored 6 runs to take a 7-4 lead, they would add one more in the 7th to make it 8-4. In the bottom of the 7th, the fellas threatened with bases load and Coach Phil called on Brendna Rowland off the bench to pinch hit. Rowland hit into a feilders choice and Brendan Clemens came up and hit one to as deep as you can go without being a HR. The comeback almost happened but the team ultimatley fell short and now must win Monday night to force a game 3 and save their season.

Electrifying: Fellas Dominate Game 1 of NLDS

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Pure domination in game 1 as Fellas look sharp in first post season game in 2 years

The Fellas return to the post season and return to October softball for the first time in 2 years. As the #1 seed the road to the World Series goes through them. In game one of the NLDS they sent a message, loud and clear; they focused on locked in. Game 1 of the NLDS was essentially over after the 2nd inning when the Fellas were up 17-1. An offensive clinic combined with great pitching and defense led to a 27-1 victory leaving the Fellas one win away from the NLCS.

The Fellas set a franchise record, both regular season and post season by scoring 27 runs. Every Fella had multiple hits with 8 players having 3 or more hits. Notable hits included 2 home runs from Brendan Rowland, with 6 RBIs and 2 home runs from player of the game, Casey Schoonmaker who had 8 RBI. Both were 5/5 as well.

On the mound Myers was locked in allowing only 2 hits and 1 run with no walks. Defensively, the Fellas were sharp with no errors. With this victory the Fellas are in good shape as they approach game 2 which is set for Thursday Oct 7th at 9PM.

Grand Finale: Fellas Dominate Regular Season Finale, Ready for Playoffs

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas get back on track, primed for post season push after 14-4 victory

After nearly a month layoff since their last game, the Fellas looked forward to a tune up game before the post season kicks off later this week. The offense was alive and well as the team scored 14 runs on some big hits backed by solid defense and pitching.

In the first, Rowland got things started with a single followed by a double from Bill Pulver. Brian Hoffman then hit a 3 run home run followed by a solo home run from Billy Creighton.  In the second the Fellas dropped 7 more runs fueled by multiple hits from Rowland, Pulver, Hoffman, Creighton and Schoonmaker. 4 more runs would be added in the later innings as the defense did their thing to keep Albany Fire limited to 4 runs.

With this victory the team ends the regular season with a 14-1 record leading the league in runs scored and fewest runs allowed. They are the favorites headed into the post season and will have home field advantage throughout the postseason.

With the regular season now complete, the real test begins as the team looks to capture it’s second title in 15 years.

Streak Snapped: Fellas Suffer First Lost Of The Season

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Poor defensive play and untimely hitting result in first loss since 2019

After nearly a two week layoff the Fellas entered this game short staffed missing, Pulver, LeMorta, Schoonmaker, & Hoffman. That combined with rust from not playing in 2 weeks was clear as the Goodfellas allowed 12 unearned runs in this game. Defensive mishaps led to the Goodfellas demise in this one, on a night when Myers was struggling on the mound.

Even with the defensive mishaps, the Fellas hung in there and battled the whole game. The Fellas were down 5-0 early and came back to tie it. The game went back and forth and at one point the Fellas took a 12-8 lead. But Big Blue came back and took advantage. The Fellas also took advantage of mishaps by Big Blue but in this game whoever batted last was likely going to win and that's exactly what happened as Big Blue walked off with 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th.

The Fellas offense performed well although their were several runners stranded that could have put this one away. Brendan Rowland was a single away from the cycle, Billy Creighton hit a moon shot home run and the bottom of the order, specfically Grill & Nicastro came up with big hits throughout the game.

The thought of an undefeated season may be gone but the quest for a championship remains; one where the Goodfellas still remain the favorite.

Tip Your Capp: Capoccitti Delivers, Fellas Remain Undefeated

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Spot start from Capps results in gem of a performance and offense supports the effort for 13th win.

With half of the starting roster missing this game, including ace Ryan Myers, The Fellas were not sure how this game would unfold. For the first time in 2 years, Dan Capoccitti took the mound and pitched a great game supported by a solid defense. Capoccitti allowed only 2 runs on 5 hits and gave the Fellas exactly what they needed without their ace.

Supporting Capoccitti was a Goodfellas offense that came out swinging early scoring 13 runs in the first inning. Brendan Rowland hit 2 home runs in the 1st inning with 6 RBI and every Fellas had a hit. Tom Conlin also added a 3 run home run with doubles from Milson, Creighton, Schoonmaker, Hoffman, Sidoti and Pulver. The offense would go quiet after the first, only adding 3 more runs but with Capps cruising and the defense playing solid it didn’t matter.

The Fellas with just 2 regular season games left are on the cusp of going undefeated during the regular season, which would be the first time in team history this happens.

On A Rowl: Fellas Offense Propels Team to Victory, Remain Unbeaten

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas offense and a gutsy pitching performance drive Fellas to victory

With only 4 regular season games to go the Fellas are striving to finish the regular season undefeated. Tonight, Players Night, the offense showed up early starting with a 10-0 lead after 2 innings. Mid State Industries would try and claw back but the Fellas scored a total of 15 runs to win this one by a final score of 16-7. With the win the Fellas improve to 12-0 and are one win away from clinching the #1 seed and home field advantage for the playoffs.

In the first WONFORE, ROWLZ, MONGO, SCHOONE, DSB2 and PROPANE had singles with HOFF hitting a double to score 5 runs. In the second. Coach 2FIVE led off with a single followed by an RBI double from WONFORE. HOFF then hit an RBI single followed by a 2 run moon shoot home run from ROWLZ. SCHOONE and TC would add singles followed by a 2 run double from PROPANE. RYE BREAD would also add a single in the inning. The Fellas would add 5 more runs in later innings fueled by doubles from SCHOONE, ROWLZ a big triple from HOFF.

RYE BREAD pitched well but took 2 comebackers off the leg that appeared to bother him in later innings. RYE BREAD a tough sum bitch. Defensively, not the Fellas best game but they made the plays when they needed to.

ROWLZ was named the player of the game by since WONFORE a DSB the POG belt was not present. “I think we can give him a free pass” said ROWLZ. “He’s earned it.” 2FIVE & BEEZ will discuss a potential fine but it’s high unlikely the GOAT will be reprimanded.

Happy Anniversary: Fellas Improve to 10-0 While Celebrating Franchise Milestone

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: 15 Year Celebreation and a 10-0 Start has the Fellas in the driver seat as historic run continues

Tonight was a special night in franchise history as the Fellas held their 15th Anniversary Celebration and looked to remain undefeated. With Mr. Steinnbrenner in attendance and other members of the Goodfellas family the Fellas came ready to play scoring 14 runs in the 14-2 victory. In addition, The Daily Gazette was in attendance to interview players and fans on this historic 15 year run. It was a pleasure speaking to Bob Weiner and we look forward to reading his story this week!

With Brendan Clemens on the DL Mark LeMorta filled in in the leadoff spot fresh off his 100th Home Run milestone in his last game. The Fellas went 1-2-3 in the first inning but came out on fire in the second by scoring 8 runs. Things got started with Casey Schoonmaker’s double followed 6 consecutive singles from Mike Nicastro, Dan Cappoccitti, Matt Grill, Ryan Myers, Phil Sidoti and Mark LeMorta. The exclamation point came with Brendan Rowland’s 2 run home run to conclude the scoring in the 2nd. In the 3rd, Mike Nicastro hit a double and would score on Matt Grill’s RBI single. In the 4th, Phil Sidoti started the inning with a single and Mark LeMorta followed with a single of his own. Brian Hoffman then hit a 3 run home run to add 3 more runs to the Goodfellas total.

In the 5th, Mark LeMorta would add an RBI single and in the 6th the game would end on a walk off mercy rule home run by Brendan Rowland.

Ryan Myers pitched a great game and was supported by a solid defensive effort. Defensive standouts included Matt Grill, Brian Hoffman and Dan Cappoccitti.

Bill Pulver was absent tonight due to the National Hamburger Convention being held in Austin, TX. An opportunity he couldnt pass up.

The Fellas will go for their 11th victory on Thursday in the teams second annual Player’s Night.

Clutch Hundo: LeMorta Hits Home Run #100 To Secure Victory

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: LeMorta's 100th Home Run saves the perfect season, Fellas improve to 9-0

Sitting at 99 career home runs and playing at Mullens we knew there was a good chance history could be made tonight and boy did it come at the right time. In a game where the Fellas did not have their best performance they headed into the 6th inning tied at 6. LeMorta stepped up to hit the go ahead home run which propelled the Fellas to score 5 runs in the inning to secure the victory. Not only was this home run #100 but it was a clutch home run that sparked the Fellas on a night where offensively they missed several opportunities.

The Fellas started the game strong with 4 runs lead by a 3 run home run from Bill Pulver and Myers would drive in Schoonmaker for the 4th run. The Fellas added one more in the 2nd and one more in the 4th but their opponent kept fighting back and kept it close. It took all 7 innings tonight to put this one away but in the end the Fellas got the job done to remain perfect on the season.

“The victory is most important and I am just happy the 100th home run actually helped the team” said LeMorta. “Christina put the kids to bed – Daddy’s coming home!

Next week is a big week with 2 games both featuring special occasions. The team’s 15th Anniversary Celebration will be on Tuesday and Player’s Night will be on Thursday.

Mid-Season Perfection: Fellas Improve To 7-0 In Thunderous Victory

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas improve to 7-0 with outstanding offensive production and defense.

After nearly a month of rain outs the Fellas were looking forward to getting back on the field. Things looked iffy all day and the sky at game time looked like Armageddon was approaching. It rained and there was lightning but the umpire allowed the game to continue. Luckily, the Fellas didn’t need a full game to put this one away as they dropped 16 runs in a 5 inning mercy rule victory.

The Fellas scored three in the 1st inning led by a single form Brendan Clemens and walk by Mr.99 LeMorta. Rowland then hit an RBI Double and Pulver drove in 2 with an RBI single.

Mid-State scored 4 in the second giving them a 1 run lead but the Fellas dropped 8 runs to pull away. Chris Smith led the inning off with a triple and would score on a Mike Milson double. Coach Phil, Brendan Clemens, Mark LeMorta, Brendan Rowland and Tom Conlin then hit 5 singles in a row followed by a double from Matt Grill to score 7. In the 4th, The fellas scored 4 more led by Tom Conlin’s lead off double, back to back singles from Matt Grill and Ryan Myers and SAC FLY from Mike Milson and RBI single from Coach Phil. Myers added the final run of the game in the 5th with an RBI single to complete the mercy rule victory.

Defensively, the fellas remained solid and Ryan Myers had another outstanding performance. LeMorta DID NOT hit his 100th HR but did look much better in his new white jersey as he went 3/3. Does it happen Friday Night?

On Fire: Fellas Remain Unbeaten As LeMorta Hits #99

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: LeMorta hits career HR #99 in offensive clinic to remain unbeaten

Tonight’s game featured (on paper) the Fellas most challenging opponent in the 6-1 Albany Fire Squad. However, this only fueled the Goodfellas even more as they exploded for 14 runs and played perfect defense to beat Albany Fire 14-1 via mercy rule in five innings.

Brendan Clemens started the offense with a leadoff double followed by a double from Mark LeMorta. Brendan Rowland then hit a 3 run home run to give the Fellas a 3-1 lead after the first inning. The Fellas would add 2 more in the send on a 2 run home run from Mark LeMorta; his 99th career home run. Casey Schoonmaker added a home run of his own, a solo shot, in the 3rd to make it a 6-1 game.

In the 4th the Fellas pulled away by scoring 6 more runs started by a walk from Ryan Myers and single from Coach Phil. Clemens then hit an RBI single followed by an RBI single from Pulver. Tom Conlin would add a 2 run single and Dan Capoccitti would put the icing on the cake with a 2 run single.

Myer’s was fantastic tonight, pitching 5 solid innings and adding 2 more strikeouts to his already record setting season. Defensively, the Fellas were tremendous making the big plays and keeping Albany Fire at bay.

Mark LeMorta was tonight’s Player of the Game with his 99th home run. “It was a great moment but more importantly we won the game” “Cant wait to celebrate with my wife when I get home.”

Vengeance: Fellas Dominate Rival, Remain Unbeaten

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Clutch Griner along with rock solid Myers lead Fellas to mercy rule victory.

Before COVID hit the last game the Fellas played was in the post season vs Stooges. They eliminated the Fellas from the playoffs and the Fellas have been waiting for vengeance for a long time. On top of that, Stooges was also unbeaten going into tonight’s game and that changed quickly. The fellas defense and pitching was fantastic and offense was clutch leading to a 13-1 mercy rule victory.

In the first, Rowland hit a double and would score on a Bill Pulver home run. In the 3rd, Griner reached with a single and Rowland would hit an absolute bob to drive in 2 more. In the 4th, the Fellas would add 5 more started by Dan Capoccitti’s single followed by a walk from Matt Grill. Myer’s would add a single and Phil Sidoti would hit a fielders choice to score a run. Brendan Clemens then walked to load the bases and the knocked punch came Player of the Game, Joe Griner, who hit a monster grand slam. The finishing touches were added in the fifth with Dustin Teta drawing a walk and Tom Conlin hitting double. Capoccitti would follow with a single and Grill would add an RBI single. Brendan Clemens would call game with an RBI single to complete the mercy.

With this victory the Fellas remain unbeaten and have sole possession of first place. The next game The Fellas will host their 15th Anniversary Celebration and will look to start the season 6-0.

Ship Wrecked: Fellas Dominate with 27 Runs to Remain Unbeaten

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas offense goes overboard with 27 runs, defense is solid to start the season 4-0.

After last week’s 24-1 victory you had a feeling, the Fellas would show up in Game 4 ready to hit. Or would the curse of the 9PM game come back to haunt them? 9PM didn’t appear to be an issue (except for Mark LeMorta, what a DSB) as the Fellas dominated Ship’s Pub defeating them 27-7.

Myer’s admittingly didn’t have his best stuff but still has 4 strikeouts and only gave up 5 earned runs. The defense behind him was solid overall and offense took care of the rest.

The Fellas scored 5 runs to start the game as Clemens got things going with a single. Brendan Rowland did what Brendan Rowland does and hit a moon shot 2 run home run. Pulver then hit a single followed by a triple from Schoonemaker. Nicastro would add a single as Dan Capoccitti would drive him in with a single of his own. Matt Grill drove Nicastro in with a single to round out the 5 runs. 8 more runs were added in the 2nd inning with Rowland hitting another 2 run home run, and Schoonemaker also hitting a 2 run home run. Sidoti would add a 2 run double, followed by an RBI triple from Brendan Clemens.

The Fellas seem to take a break innings 3-5 by only scoring one run but in the 6th they poured it on by scoring 13 runs to put this one to bed. Nicastro and Capoccitti started the rally with singles followed by singles from Sidoti, Clemens and Hoffman. Rowland would add an RBI double to his already impressive evening and Billy Pulver followed with a 2 run double. Brendan Clemens hit an inside the park home run and prior to that Nicastro, Capoccitti, Grill and Myers all hit RBI singles.

Tom Conlin was a late scratch due to foot stuff and needed a week to rest his ailing gout. Mark LeMorta thought the game was at 7:30 and missed the game due to him being a DSB. This is the first time in team history a BOD member has been fined twice in season, and we still have 11 games to go.

The Fellas are now 4-0 and tied for first place in the division. Next week they play the other first place team; the team that eliminated them from the playoffs in 2019. Time for vengeance.

Tuesday Night Smackown: Fellas Explode for 24 Runs To Start 3-0

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Offense explodes, Myers unittable in 24-1 blowout

After last week's game was cancelled the Fellas were anxious to get back on the field and swing the sticks and boy did they ever. The Fellas started off hot and never cooled off as they scored 24 runs in a 5 inning mercy rule blow out. Myer's was sensentional with 5Ks, allowing on 1 run and defense played well.

In the first inning, fresh off the COVID list, Brendan Clemens walked setting up a 2 run home run from Brian Hoffman. Rowland would then reach with a single followed by a monster home run from Billy Creighton. In the second, last minute sub (not that kinda sub Pulver ya DSB), Chris Smith hit a 2 run home run followed by hits from Rowland, Creighton and Hoffman to add 4 more runs.

In the thrid inning Myers & Smith walked and Milson hit single loading the bases for the top of the order. Clemens hit a line drive double to bring in 2 and Brendan Rowland hit a moonshot home run to drive in 3 more. Creighton then a solo home run and you could quickly see this game was going to end early tonight.

The 4th inning is where the true damage was done with the Fells scoring 10 runs. Myers, Wilson and Smith all reached base allowing Clemens to drive one in. Hoffman would add a SAC FLY followed by an RBI single from Rowland. Conlin added a 2 run triple, followed by an RBI single from Dan Capoccitti. The final blow game from Chris Smith, with his second home run of the game, a 3 run bomb to put the icing on the cake (again, Pulver there is not an actual cake).

The Fellas are now 3-0 and in first place  in the division. They look to continue to mometum and hopefully the offense can keep clicking.

CAPPS LOCK: FELLAS CAPITALIZE ON MYERS GEM FOR VICTORY

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Great pitching and solid defense prevail leading to 2-0 start

After last week’s record setting opening day the Fellas came into this one with high expectations. Facing former Goodfella Jeff Brown’s team (JEFFFFSSSS HUGEEEEEE) Ryan Myers took the mound and found himself in a 3-1 hole after 2 innings. After that he settled down and pitched 5 shut out innings earning him co-player of the game honors.

The offense was quiet tonight but came back to score 3 runs and hang on for the victory. Schoonmaker hit a solo home run to spark the team and Griner set the table with a single followed by an RBI double from Brian Hoffman. Bill Pulver followed suit with an RBI double of his own to score the 4th run. Defensively the Goodfellas play solid with great plays made by Schoonmaker, Hoffman, Pulver & of course co-player of the game Dan Capoccitti with his tremendous coverage in right field.

“I really just wanted to get the hell home so I figured if I actually gave a shit tonight and played well I could get home sooner” said Capoccitti. Capps also had 2 hits raising his batting average from who gives a shit to decent.

Brian Hoffman also had a tremendous night at the plate in 2 hole with three hits and an RBI. Not bad for a dumb sum bitch.

Back In Business: Fellas Dominiate Opener

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Myers gem & offense lead to huge opening day victory

After over 600 long days the Goodfellas returned to the field and they certainly made a statement. 16 runs by the offense sets an opening day record and Rookie Ryan Myers tied the franchise record for most strikeouts in a game with 6. The offense was clicking, the defense was sharp and it was great getting back on the field.

Things really took off in the second inning with the Fellas scoring 6 runs. Schoonmkaer started it off with a walk followed by back to back walks from Capoccitti & Myers. Lead off hitter Mark LeMorta (not a typo) drove them in with a big single. Rowland then hit a 2 run double followed by a mammoth triple from Billy Pulver and Tom Conlin hit an RBI single.

Then in the 4th the Fellas locked in the victory with 5 more runs fueled by big hits from Rowland, Pulver, Creighton and Capoccitti. 16 runs is not only the highest opening day production but marks the first time a season opener ended with a mercy rule.

Ryan Myer's was senstational with 6Ks and strong command of the strike zone. The defense backed him up as well but no one was touching Myer's tonight earning him Player of the Game honors.

"Huge win for the franchise and it's good to be back" said LeMorta. "Line up was a little top heavy, literally but happy to step up and help the team get the W". "Also, I apologize for swinging 3-0 and hitting into a DP, I am a DSB"

Rookies Schoonmaker, Creighton & Nicastro also had a excellent showings and Dan Capoccitti caught a great game and had a couple hits as well.

This is a great start and it's good to be back!

Finito: Fellas 2019 Campaign Ends In ALDS Game 3 Loss

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: A game to forgot.... Fellas come out flat and are headed home

This was it. Winner goes on to the ALCS and loser goes home. After a thrilling in in game 1 and a tough loss in game 2, the Fellas knew they had to play a solid game to win game three and advance to the ALCS. 2019 was just not meant to be as the offense struggled and an injured Marciano couldn’t find his groove. As a result, the Fellas lost this contest 16-3 and for the second straight year have been eliminated in the first round.

The Fellas only had 7 hits, with Chris Stack and Brendan Rowland making up half of the teams hits. Could the lack of production be attributed to the game not starting until 10? If Marciano is healthy doesn’t it change the outcome? Bottom line is the Fellas did not get the job done and will have to wait until 2020 for redemption. Nonetheless, this is a great group of guys who have built a great bond and friendship. Win or lose the season was a success because of this fact. We look forward to coming back stronger in 2020.

Elimination Situation: Fellas Drop Game 2, Face Must Win Game 3

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fella's can't complete the sweep, face elimination game scenario

Riding high after their clutch walk off win on Tuesday, The Fellas were poised to sweep the series and prepare for the ALCS. However, they now find themselves facing elimination as the offense struggled in this 10-6 defeat.

The game was tied at 5 in the 5th inning and Stooges scored 5 to take a 10-5 lead the Fellas threatened in the 6th with the bases loaded but could not cash in. In the 7th Rowland hit a solo home run but the Fellas could not overcome the burdensome 5th inning. Marciano injured his back/sciatic in the 4th and was visibility struggling to throw but hung in there like the tough sum bitch that he is. Regardless of the injury, the offense was not able to get it done and it was almost a carbon copy of Game 1.

Notable offensive performances included Teddy Minissale who made his Goodfellas post season debut by going 2/3 with 2 RBI. Capoccitti continued his hot hitting going 2/3 and Coach Phil went 3/3 with an RBI. Pulver hit a triple and would score one of the Fellas 6 runs. Defensively the squad was not as tight as they were in Game 1, with some mental mistakes combined with a little bit of bad luck. There was certainly no shortage of effort, it was just one of those games where things didn’t go as planned.

“Our priority right now is to make sure Marci is healthy and ready to go for Game 3.” Said Coach Phil. “We also have to snap out of this funk offensively. This will be the 5th time we face this pitcher and we need to figure it out”.

“The good thing about a series is if you have a bad game you can still survive and move on” said LeMorta. We know are the better team but we need to execute in Game 3 and prove it.’

Walk Off Madness: Fellas Win Game 1 in 9 Inning Gutsy Performance

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: 9 inning marathon ends in clutch win for the Fellas

After nearly a 3 week layoff before the end of the regular season the playoffs the Fellas were anxious to take the field and start their quest for a championship. The Fellas being the 4 seed know they can beat anyone and are out to prove it. The ALDS kicked off with a 9PM classic that went 9 innings resulting in a resilient Fellas winning via the walk off. The Fellas now have an opportunity to clinch the ALDS and move on to the ALCS with another win on Thursday.

In this contest it was tight the whole way with Nick Marciano pitching an absolute gem. The defense him behind him also played very well and made the big plays when they needed to. Defensive standouts included Chris Stack, Mike Nicastro and Corey McMeel who made critical plays throughout the game and kept the game close.

Offensively, the Fellas struggled a bit as the Stooges pitcher kept them off balance all night. The Fellas struck first though in the 2nd inning with an RBI single from Nick Marciano and scored 2 more runs on a 2 run single from Corey McMeel. Clemens added a sac fly in the following inning and Nicastro hit an RBI single. Stooges responded each time the Fellas scored to keep the game tied headed into the 9th. Stooges threatened to take the lead multiple times in extra innings but the defense made huge plays to keep the game tied. In the bottom of the 9th, Brendan Rowland hit a triple and scored on a sac fly by McMeel to end the game and inch the Fellas closed to the ALCS.

“These kind of games are tough and exhausting and luckily we ended up on the winning end” said coach Phil. This was a huge win, we now go into game 2 with an opportunity to close the series out.”

“I earned another gift card so I am happy” said Bill Pulver. We are going to ride the donuts all the way to title.”

The Fellas look sweep the ALDS on Thursday at 9PM.

Tough One: Fellas Complete Comeback But Fall in 7 Innings

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas comeback but cant seal the deal

After Wednesday’s offensive struggle the culprit tonight was defense which turned a winnable game into a tough loss. The Fellas gave their opponent too many outs and like all good teams they took advantage and cashed in.

Offensively the Fellas appeared to be back on track, although in typical Fella’s fashion didn’t cash in with the bases load. The Fellas actually were leading this 8-4 but with some mishaps found themselves down 14-9 in the top of the 7th.

The Fellas were resilient and refused to go down without a fight. Brian Hoffman got it started with a single and Chris Stack would added a 2 out single. Michael Nicastro then hit a single and Matt Grill cashed in with a 2 run single followed by an RBI single from the hot hitting Dan Capoccitti. Coach Phil then hit an RBI bunt single turning the order back to Mr. 200, Brendan Clemens. Brendan was clutch, driving a base hit to left field to score 2 runs and tie the game up at 14. Teddy Minissale flied out to end the scoring and it would come to the defense in the bottom 7th in which they couldn’t hang on.

Marciano pitched well overall but as a team The Fellas just didn’t play tight enough defense to beat a team of this caliber. They proved, however, that they can beat a top team and have a shot at beating anyone making this year’s playoff run a must see spectacle. The offense featured career home run #96 from Mark LeMorta and a home run from Billy Pulver. Chris Stack also had a big RBI triple and the bottom of the order performed exceptionally well; lead by Dan Capoccitti’s 2 doubles (4/4) and Matt Grill’s 2 doubles (3/4)/ The bottom 3 hitters went a combined 10/12.

With one game left in the regular season the Fellas look to get back and track and prepare for their playoff run as they attempt to win their 2nd title in franchise history.

Staying Hot (Literally): Fellas Sweep Double Header For 5th Win In A Row

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas stay hot (literally), sweep double header

After back to back to back games with scoring 20 + runs, the Fellas were red hot entering the double header. Speaking of red hot it was over 90 degrees for the doubke header which may be while the first didn’t show up, giving the Fellas the 12-0 victory.

The fellas had to wait an hour and a half for game 2 and stayed loose by drinking beer and playing a bocce style game that looked interesting, Once it was game time the fellas meant business and even being down LeMorta, Hoffman, Pulver and Cappocitti the subs and mainstays did the job winning this game 14-6.

Teddy Minnisale got things started with a single and scored on Brendan Rowland’s triple. Tommy Conlin then hit a sac fly to secure the 3rd run. In the second Coach Phil and Bryan Piche walked and Nick Marciano hit an rbi single. Briggs would walk followed by a sac fly from Brendan Clemens. Teddy Minnisale put the exclamation point on the inning with a 3 run home run to dead center. In the 5th the fellas exploded again for 5 more. Coach Phil walked followed by a single from Piche. Marciano then hit a 2 run triple and Marciano scored on Brigg’s groundout. Brendan Rowland also hit a solo home run (of course he did).

Defensively the Fella’s were solid and Nick Marciano pitched a great game. He also swung the stick well and earned himself the POG honor.

“This type of game just shows you our depth” said Coach Phil. “We were missing 4 of our main players and our subs stepped up and the job done. And of course we scored 14 runs as a symbolic gesture towards WONFORE”.

“I regret to have missed this game but the Wendy’s National New Product Tasting Convention only happens once every 4 years.. kind of like the world cup” said Bill Pulver. I am glad the fellas got the win and I am happy to report that the legacy of Dave Thomas is stronger than ever”

The fellas have 3 games left and still have a shot at securing the 2 seed for the playoffs and possibly still capture the top seed. The playoffs are approaching and this team WILL BE READY.

Slam Dunkin: Fellas Bash 8 Home Runs In Friday Night Spectacle

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas do it again. 20 + runs in another big win

Although the “Fella’s Run on Dunkin” promotion is intended to promote singles and doubles it’s not a bad thing when you have a game where team combines for 8 home runs! This marks the third game in a row the Goodfellas have scored 20 runs or more and this is the first time they have done this in franchise history. Speaking of history, Mark LeMorta hit career home runs #95 & #96 in this game and Brendan Rowland had his second game in a row with 3 home runs (another record).

The Fellas struck first in this one via a solo home run from Rowland and would score 5 more in the second. Hoffman and Conlin hit back to back singles followed by a single from Mike Nicastro and a SAC Fly from Geoff Briggs. Coach Phil then hit a 2 run double and LeMorta would add a single to get the offense clicking. In third Nicastro added an RBI double and in the 4th the Fellas put on a power display for the ages. Coach Phil and Clemens hit back to back singles followed by career home run #95 by Mark LeMorta.

Brendan Rowland then hit his 2nd home run of the game and Brian Hoffman would add a home run blast of his own. In the following inning, LeMorta hit an inside the park home run and Rowland hit his 3rd home run of the game. Tommy Conlin then hit a 3 run home run and this game was essentially over. In the 6th, Billy Pulver hit a 2 run home run for the 20th runs and this game ended early via the mercy rule.

Defensively the Fellas played solid with great contributions made all around. Matt Grill did a great job in his first game at 1st base the outfield did what they always do. Coach Phil pitched well enough to limit the damage and the defense made the plays when needed.

“We are playing really well right now, everything is clicking” said Coach Phil. “To have 3 games in a row scoring over 20 runs when we struggled earlier in the season to score runs is a testament to the talent our team has.”

“I am pumped to have hit a home run but this no gift card for home runs is BS” said Billy Pulver. “I mean you’re telling me you wouldn’t trade a donut for a home run but you will give one if I hit a single?”

Our subs tonight did a great job and we appreciate their support. Thanks to Michael Nicastro and Geoff Briggs for spending their Friday night with us. Mike Nicastro was eligible for a gift card but left early and did not collect… what a DSB.

The Fellas look to keep the momentum going next Friday in double header at FOD.

Still Running On Dunkin: Fellas Upset First Place Undefeated Team With Huge Win

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fellas upset undefeated first place team with offensive clinic

The Fellas were truly running on Dunkin coming into this game and with gift cards / donuts still on the line the Fellas rose to the occasion once again. Facing the undefeated first place team the Fellas figured this would be a close game and they would have to be flawless in order to pull out the victory. Well, they were flawless but this one wasn’t even close as the Goodfellas put on an offense clinic and stunned not only the first place team but put the league on notice that the Fellas are for real.

Rijo Realty scored three runs in the top of the first and the Fellas responded 4 runs and never lost the lead. Clemens started it off with a single and then Rowland, Minissale and Pulver hit back to back to back home runs in a display of pure power. In the second the Fellas did most of their damage and with 2 outs, scored 10 runs. Coach Phil got it going with a single followed by back to back singles from Clemens and LeMorta. Rowland then hit an RBI double followed by a double from Minissale and a 2 run single from Pulver (almost to a gift card you sum bitch). Brian Hoffman and Tommy Conlin then hit back to back singles followed by singles from Stack and Grill. Coach Phil and Clemens then hit back to back doubles to conclude the second.

In the third the Fellas added another with a solo home run from Brendan Rowland and in the 4thinning history was made. Mark LeMorta hit his 94th career home run and his first in over a year. The game briefly stopped as our fans (Jack Pulver) paid homage to the home run. Jack was seen rubbing his nipples in excitement but that may have been due to him knowing his son was on track to get a gift card and some Boston Crème’s were in sight.

The game was called via the mercy rule in the 5th after Brendan Rowland’s 5th RBI of the night to give the Fellas the upset victory by a final score of 20-8.

“It’s cost me some money with these gift cards but it’s been one helleuva investment” said Coach Phil. “43 runs in two games? Sometimes you need to add a little more to the mix to get guys going, it’s been fun.”

“I am happy we won but pissed I didn’t get the gift card tonight” said Billy Pulver. I hit a freakin bomb but because of the stupid “HR don’t count” rule I get nothing. I am still going to Dunkin anyway though….”

Marciano pitched a gem was solid all night. Defensively this was one of the best games the Fellas plays all season with outstanding plays made by Stack, Pulver and Minissale. “Teddysmooth” was named the POG after his phenomenal defensive display and going for 4/4.

“I came to this team to win but also to have fun” said Minissale. “It’s fun when both come together; last two games have been exactly what we needed”

Fellas look to keep the momentum going Friday night at 9pm vs Label Makers.

FELLAS RUN ON DUNKIN: OFFENSE EXPLODES FOR BIG WIN

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Home runs, cycles, bomb - oh my!

After last week’s lackluster performance and virtually no offense, Coach Phil teamed up with Dunkin Donuts to try and spark the offense. It was simple; get 2 hits (home runs don’t count) and get a $5 Dunkin Donuts gift card in an effort to promote base hits and solid contact.  Let’s just say these DSBs got the memo and took full advantage!

The Fellas put up 4 runs in the first inning started by a base hit from Brendan Clemens and an RBI double from Brendan Rowland. Ted Minnissale walked and Bill Pulver hit a three run triple. In the 2nd, Rowland added a SAC FLY and in the 3rd, Tommy Conlin hit an RBI single followed by an RBI single from Corey McMeel. Matt Grill then added a SAC FLY to make this an 8-1 game.

However, Marciano who was making his season debut ran into trouble in the 4th giving up 6 runs to make the score 8-7. The Fellas quickly responded by scoring 7 runs combined in the next two innings. Rowland hit a 2 run home run followed by a home run from Ted Minissale – BACK TO BACK… AND BELLY TO BELLY! In the next inning, Billy Pulver hit a home run followed by a double from Brian Hoffman. McMeel then hit a double followed by a double from Grill and a single from Coach Phil. Clemens then hit a single followed by a double from Mark LeMorta. The game then ended on the mercy rule via an absolute monster of home run by Brendan Rowland. Rowland becomes the first Goodfella in history to hit 3 home runs in one game and when you added the distance up between the three home runs it’s about 2.5 miles. Billy Pulver also hit for the cycle becoming only the third Goodfella in history to hit for the cycle.

“Sometimes you need a little motivation” said Billy Pulver. “Free donuts and I hit for the cycle, and make history.” I guess you could say I run on Dunkin.

Nick Marciano pitched well and was able to shake off the rust early. ‘It’s been awhile and took me a little to get comfortable but once I settled in it was like I never left”. Said Marciano. “I love to compete”

Player’s Weak: Lack of Offense Snaps Winning Streak

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Lack of offense snaps 3 game winning streak

With the Fellas riding a 3 game winning streak and with almost the whole team available, they looked prepared to continue the streak and get the W on Player’s Night (or Week whatever the hell we are calling it). However, the offense did not show up tonight and team had a total of 7 hits which won’t get the job done.

The Fellas didn’t score until the third via an RBI double from Mark LeMorta. LeMorta would go on to hit a 2 run single in the 5th and all three runs batted in came via WONFORE. Coach Phil took the mound in Dan Capoccitti’s absence and didn’t last long having to pull himself out after a left sciatic injury in the middle of the second inning. He a pitched a decent first inning and would have gotten out of it with no runs but on a simple play to third base he threw the ball in the parking lot; what a dumb sum bitch.

Bill Pulver came on for relief and pitched well enough to keep the team in the game. Bill had two strikeouts and did his best with the unexpected pitching performance.

With the stands jam packed for Player’s Night this was not the performance our fans came to see. “This was about as bad as a game we could have played” said Brian Hoffman. The game was over by 7:05 which is rare for a game that didn’t end via the mercy rule.

Part of the lack of offense can be attributed to Dan Capoccitti not finding a replacement for beer. He was on he schedule and did not find his replacement which will certainly earn him a fine.

The Fellas look to put this one behind them and will have a quick turnaround with a game on Tuesday vs. the second place team.

SUB-WAY: New Faces Deliver, Fellas Hang On For Third Straight Win

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Subs deliver again, Fellas hang on for third staright win

After Wednesday’s win via forfeit the Fellas ramped up for Friday’s make up game at Bleecker Stadium; and yes it was a 9PM which usually doesn’t go well. Thing’s started off rough when Goodfella’s ace, Dan Capoccitti, went to wrong field. What a DSB. He even got a text that morning with a reminder but still was a DSB. As a result, Coach Phil took the mound and Capoccitti went to first base when he arrived. Capps played well at first and as expected was no apologetic whatsoever for being late. In fact, he spent most of the night proclaiming himself the team’s new first baseman moving forward.

The Fellas got the offense going in the 2nd with 5 runs led by Dan Jones, who made his Goodfellas debut. Mr. Jones hit a towering grand slam and possessed the approach at the plate similar to hall of famer Keith Barrell. Kyle Clemens also contributed an RBI single for the 5th run. In the 3rd, Jones delivered again with an RBI double for the Goodfellas 6th run. Regeneron tied it up in the 5th and took the lead in the 6th leaving the Goodfellas trailing by 2. But in the bottom of the 6th, the Fellas were able to score 5 runs to take a 2 run. Coach Phil started with a single followed by back to back singles from Brendan Clemens and Teddy Minissale. Mark LeMorta then hit a 2 run double followed by an RBI double Billy Pulver. Brian Hoffman then hit a SAC FLY to conclude the scoring.

Coach Phil pitched well enough to keep the Fellas in the game going solid 7 innings. In the 7th, Regeneron pulled within 1 run but two ground balls to Billy Pulver (with a new stud a first base on the receiving end) sealed the game and delivered the Goodfellas 3rd straight win.

“Our subs continue to deliver for us, what a game for Dan Jones and Kyle Clemens.” Said Coach Phil. We don’t win the game without those guys”. “All of our subs this year have been outstanding”

“It was a pleasure playing tonight” said Dan Jones. “I even got to hear the dolphin story about Andrew Dorr which was an added bonus”.

Super Soaker: Fellas Capture First Win Via the Walk-Off

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Fella's come back in 7th and win via the walkoff for first win in 2019

After last week’s disappointing performance and after starting the season 0-2, game 3 was a must win. With the forecast being spotty the rain held off up until first pitch with the field containing visible puddles. However, the umpire allowed the game to go on and that was fine by us. Unfortunately one dumb sum bitch, Matt Grill, did not realize we were going to start on time and decided to wait in his car… With the full team on the field the umpire said play ball but Matt Grill was nowhere to be found. Coach Phil had to call timeout and text Matt to get his ass down to the field and the fellas would play the first half of the inning without Grill; which contributed to 2 runs since there were only three outfielders and a few balls went where he would have been standing. The team was perplexed, where was Grill? Was he in his car eating Chick-fil-A? Was he on the phone working a deal with Suburban Propane or was he simply just afraid to get little wet?

Grill visibly upset when he got to the field could not believe we were playing and apologized to the squad. With this being his first major infraction since joining the franchise you can bet that once Mark Lemorta finds out there will be a heavy fine assessed at the team party. Matt is also lucky that Stone Cold is still suspended otherwise he may have gotten a stunner from him. Those 2 runs a result of no PROPANE could have been the difference maker if the Fella’s lost but great pitching, timely hitting and solid defense kept the Fellas in the game setting the stage for a walk off win in the 7th to deliver the first win of the 2019 campaign.

The Fella’s got those 2 runs back by the second inning with a SAC Fly from DSB Brian Hoffman (noticeably slimmer Hoff, eat a samich ya sum bitch) and a solo home run from rookie sensation Corey McMeel. In the third, Brendan Rowland hit a 3 run home run to put the Fellas up 5-3 and Dan Capoccitti kept throwing up zeros to keep it a close game. Stooges, however, was able to score 3 runs in the 5th tying the game but the Fellas took the lead back in the 6th with a SAC Fly from “Mr. Redemption” Matt Grill. The Fella’s needed three outs in the 7th to sneak out the victory but Stooges hit a 2 run shot to take the lead.

In the 7th, Coach Phil started the inning off with a walk followed by a single from Brendan Clemens. Teddy Minissale then hit an RBI single to tie the game setting the stage for Brendan Rowland to finish the job. Rowland hit a ball over the right center fielders’ head to score Clemens and giving the Fella’s the walk off win.

After the game, Brendan Rowland was interviewed holding the Goodfellas POG belt and became the first player in franchise history to be awarded the belt. Dan Capoccitti, a strong honorable mention, pitched well and also flashed the leather on the mound. When being congratulated on a job well done he said “I know”. Great to the see the confidence back from the sum bitch (not that it really ever left).

Mark LeMorta was not at the game due to his preparation for his presentation at the National Penis Convention next week. “Great win Fellas!” added LeMorta “Once I am done straightening out a few shafts I’ll be back”

The Goodfellas look to ride the momentum into Game 4, which is Player’s Week taking place 6PM June 5th at the Field of Dreams.

Late Night Struggles: Fellas Drop Second Game of Season (9PM YOU DSB)

PASTA BOWL BREAKDOWN: Late night for Fellas turns into another tough loss

After back to back rainouts and an abysmal home opener the Fellas were anxious to get back on the field to right the ship. Things were close for most of the game, but the 9pm curse strikes again and the Fellas dropped their second game of the season by a score of 20-10. The game was tied at 9 heading into the 6th but the wheels fell off quickly.

Brendan Rowland (of course) and rookie Cory McMeel both hit moonshot home runs and the Fellas offense was much better than the opener. McMeel who was called up from AAA earlier in the day also flashed the leather and threw a guy out at second from RF. McMeel is only the 4th Goodfella in history to hit a home run in his debut.  Another rookie making his debut was Kyle Clemens, cousin of Brendan Clemens and nephew of hall of famer Kevin Clemens. Kyle was great behind the plate and made a huge play in the 5th to keep the game tied. Bryan Piche, who was also called up from AAA played good a second base and hit the ball hard each time. The three rookies did not disappoint and kept us in the game.

Dan Capoccitti pitched well enough to keep us in the game but the 6th inning was just too much to overcome. Defensively the Fellas still have some work to do but it was much improved from the opener. With the Fellas now 0-2 they need to come out in game 3 with a vengeance; they haven’t started 0-3 since their inaugural season.  “Our next game is not at 9pm so I like our chances” said Coach Phil.

OPENING SLAY: FELLAS COME OUT FLAT, DROP HOME OPENER

After a long offseason there was a lot of excitement for opening day. Some new faces, new energy and some heroics from LeMorta (undoing the snap) led a jam packed off season. The Fellas and our fans were ready to begin our 13th season but we all know our history with 9PM games.

It was a cold late night at the “newly drained” Field of Dreams and the Fellas had their full line up and appeared to be ready to go. But it became evident quickly the Fellas just didn’t have it and they came out flat in the first inning allowing 9 runs. Brendan Rowland responded in the 1st with a 2  run home run but Duke’s took those 2 runs right back and went up 11-2. The Fellas would go on to add another run later on but go down 16-3 on a game that can’t be forgotten soon enough. Dan Capoccitti pitched well considering how long it’s been but poor defense and some really hard balls showed the rust the team still had.

“On to the next one” said Rookie Ted Minissale. “Not the result we wanted but with a tighter D that game is a lot closer” said Mark LeMorta.

The Goodfellas look took rebound on Tuesday and right the ship to get on the right path to the ship.
